Thanks Wal-Mart... Soon, we'll all have to shop there... There will be no choice. All of the competition will be gone.

or HHgregg, PC richards or your local small businesses :D

wal-mart isnt to blame for this, its amazon. Walmart is actually making their electronics department smaller this year as even they cant compete with amazon.

Albedamed if i ever shop at wal-mart for anything :willy:

If the government would get off there dead (you know what) and put a flat tax across all states on internet sales, this problem wouldn't be as large as it is IMO.

Say 5% across the country. Not to mention what it would do for the deficit! :willy:

but they have more things to worry about like making friends with russia after the election :jester:

Its not so much the sales tax as the whole internet sales mentality. You have every single web store competing over sales and the only way they can get ahead is undercutting them selfs so they only make $1 or 2 on the sale. nobody cares, aslong as they saved a dollar they are happy.

Even if they implemented the sales tax it doesnt help the amazon effect. everyone that shops their still thinks they are getting a better deal then local. even if they have to pay sales tax. Especially the prime members where they get free shipping.

I purchased a 32 gb model I only paid 99$ for my AppleCare. Do to the fact that apple just released the product if you were to damage your iPad more than likely they will give you a brand new one. They have to have a nice stock of returned or refurbished iPads just to fix it. basically the guy played you for a sale. I've never heard of any AppleCare being 149$ btw

I'll add to this...

I bought a macbook pro back in my freshman year of college, which was three years ago and paid in full with bowling scholarship. (Get your kids and grandkids into bowling lol.) Anyways, I bought it through the college which means I would get the college warranty. About a month ago my battery was completely dying out, wouldn't even last an hour. So I took it to the Apple store around here, they looked at it, did a full diagnostic. The gentleman said you are under warranty and we will replace it in full, just give me a few minutes. So, I apparently got the warranty from there as well as the one from school, totally forgot about it and was expecting to pay two hundred bucks that day but instead got it fully fixed in ten minutes. Great service from Apple.

Now onto the Bestbuy protection plan...I bought a camera a year ago with the two year replacement plan. About six months later the lens kept freezing up so I took it into the store and filled out the paperwork necessary. I was told if this was a problem they could not find or recreate I would be paying fifty bucks. Well I wouldn't be bringing it in if there was not a problem, but anyways after about a month the camera came back and said they fixed it.

So to wrap it all up, Apple took ten minutes, never had me pay a dime or told me I would need to pay, awesome customer service. Bestbuy on the other hand told me I had to pay fifty bucks if they couldn't find the problem, which was a little unsettling considering the problem only happened twice, and they also took a month to fix. I go to Bestbuy to buy movies and videogames, but if it's an Apple product then get the Applecare.

Sorry for the long response!

And following my post...Today Best Buy Posted a 1.7billion dollar loss  and closing 50 stores. I hope one of them isnt your store Tony :( I would be very careful for anyone purchasing any extended warranties at bestbuy

Best Buy Posts $1.7 Billion Loss; Will Close 50 Stores : Page 1 of 1 : Dealerscope

I was in the middle of a meeting when they announced that. My manager had to run out and go to a conference call and came back and kind of touched on what they talked about. I am somewhat worried about the state of the company but my store is one of the top performing ones in the district and the department I supervise over has been in the number one position in the company multiple times this year. So I am not to worried because if my store is one of the ones on the list there will be a chance for movement to a nearby store until I find something different.

They have not announced yet to the "pee-ons" what stores will be affected we also have a planned restructure of the company coming next week so I am nervous to find out what happens there. But thanks for the concern.
