Strip wash question....

InfernoOrangeRS

Question

Ok so I was doing a strip wash on my dads car today, getting ready to do some color sanding then buffing with the PC:pc:(Paint has some orange peel that needed correcting, we painted it! lol) Anyways, your supposed to wash the complete car then rinse, no matter if the soap dries or not.... I was wondering if adding the 2-3 oz of all purpose wash that says "Never allow product to dry" would leave soap deposits on the paint or if the normal process that I go through would do? Thanks!

I have always used Dawn, but I know there are more than a few here that use APC. I use APC so much for other uses that I don't want to "waste" it on a job using Dawn is effective and safe on. I suppose it boils down to a matter of preference.

Our stance on strip washing is to mix in 2-4oz. Of APC into your Car Shampoo mixture. Dawn will damage trim and such over time.

You would be diluting the APC enough to allow it to remove any wax or sealant, while at the same time not causing harm by having it diluted out in all that water and Car Shampoo.

OK, explain like I am five. How much APC are we talking here? Like equivalent to the amount of Car Shampoo you'd use ordinarily or more?

APC + Foam gun = winning!

You only need about 2oz for a strip wash of APC. Dawn also works extremely well, but as Mook mentioned, it'll dry out the rubber and plastic. Make sure to apply SVRT afterwards to moisturizer the plastics and rubber, especially after using dawn, after any strip wash.

Randy, go grab Monica's measuring cup, tell her good luck getting it back, buy her another, and keep one for the garage.

:D

I use DOUBLE the APC as I do Car Shampoo in the Car Wash Bucket. I don't put it in the Foam Gun, as APC becomes too slick for my liking.

I think we are clear on the Proper Strip Wash Technique FROM Adam's Premium Car Care.
