Discovered some paint chips today after taking the car to its first touch-less car wash after discovering a modern one in town. I know those washes don't really get all the dirt off, but enough to look clean between 2-bucket washes.
After the touch-less car wash, I stepped out to check the results and discovered something must of hit my car's fender in the last two weeks. Struck at an angle from the behind, creating chips that contour around the fender's edge, plus some deep scratches. I can see a trail of clear coat scratches continuing from from the impact for a foot or so, no dents.
I'm puzzled what hit it to create chips that bend across edge, and bird? This fender also has two tiny chips on the wheel-well edge above that tire. Just bad luck with this fender?
Forum posts recommended some paint touch-up kits, though, I have to conclude such a large section of chips won't just disappear that easily.
Question:
Anyone ever use their comprehensive insurance coverage for paint damage such as this? My deductible is $250. Somewhat expensive, but not like $500-$1000. Touch-up kits probably cost $50 with so so results for such a large area. Car is only a year old and I've spent way more than $250 in Adams products trying to keep it perfect.
