New truck. New problems.

Guest Gone & Forgotten

Question

Guest Gone & Forgotten

I've never seen glass etched so bad with water marks as I see in this new... Yes NEW Truck.

Can't really get a photo with my iPhone 5....

Here's what I've used.

1. CLAY

2. Adams GC with Glass towel (have linting issues with them... That's another issue altogether)

Moved to plan B.

3. Mixed half an empty Adams bottle of distilled white vinegar (5% acidity) with a squirt (2 tablespoons or so) of real lemon juice (not concentrate). And a short squirt of dish soap.

4. Put that on and used the adobe end of a window squeegee, then used the squeegee end and a MF towel to finish.

Still have same level of water scale.

Is there a Vinegar with a higher level of acidity I should look for? Did I make a mistake adding the lemon juice and dish soap?

Is there a next level of removal used when vinegar just doesn't do the trick?

I know this has been covered before... But I don't think it was as extreme as this.

I looked at this truck today in my garage with halogens.

This thing is screwed for a new truck. I've done cars with 30k miles that lived outdoors and weren't this bad.

:help::mad::(. :confused:

I've used a polisher on glass before... Never saw it remove water scale.

Never tried 0000 steel wool before... May try that.

.0000 steel wool and denatured alcohol, if SHR and FMP on the Focus Drill Kit won't work

I just had to do the same thing on my Silverado last week. In the end SHR and FMP did the trick before I had to get the steel wool out.

It was a PITA but did the job and was well worth it!

I vote for SHR on a rotary like the focus pads!

Another vote for the 4" pads. Usually using the 4" pads on the PC works well for me, though I tend to use SSR instead of SHR.

For lighter water scaling I use FMP with Revive Polish on the 4" pads and this has worked for me in most cases.

Here is a little write up I did in the past on what works for me.

If this is really a "new" truck, I think I would be having a conversation with the dealer I bought it from.

Not interested in them touching it. Their neglect has done enough damage. I'll take it from here.

Before they put armor all on my new rig.
