Complete: 1949 Olds Ninety-Eight

THE Mook

Recommended Posts

Hey There!

I was so fortunate last week to meet up with a gentleman from the ColoRODans and knock out his Bahama Blue, 1949 Oldsmobile Ninety Eight. This baby was powered by a 409 Rocket, and sounds amazing! The client only wanted his paint corrected, polished, and waxed, as it had NEVER been waxed since he had it painted two years ago!

A couple before pics as he was pulling in...(the client clearly had a leadfoot.)

I set out a test area for what I thought would be the answer here...One pass each of the Prototype Polishes, and I was happy.

Enough about the paint for a few. The client and I had agreed that I shouldn't worry about the wheels, as they were coming off for new ones soon enough. I COULDN'T just let them sit there, especially if I wanted to take some nice after pictures. SO, I began the Wheel and Tire part of the show. The wheels were chalky, and well, let's be honest, weren't the best aluminum in the world. I got pretty good results out of them.

With that out of the way, my brain could now go back to focusing on the paint. I knew this was going to come out pretty nice. What a great color to work with! These next shots were through polish only. No Glaze or Wax had been put down to this point.

Wiping off the Patriot, I was still grinning, just about jumping up and down with excitement. This turned out WELL!

Not so much now, right?

With all of the hazing gone, all of the swirl marks out, and a nice coat of wax on this car, I was feeling pretty happy.

With the weather the way it's been here in Colorado the past two weeks, I was not able to take any outside shots of the car. In fact, when the client came to pick it up, I thought he was crazy, as he was driving it home, and the ONE day it hasn't been wet here, he chose to take his chances!

Thank you all for stopping in!
