im asking about all the stuff that looks like scratches. The truck is 20 years old

I understand that, but is it on the paint or metal? It's hard to tell.

It looks like little rust spots either way to me.  Spray some DWC on it and let it sit see if it takes it out.

 

So you're not worried about the spots?  Just the surface its self?  Did you already try and polish it?

Not spots. Just scratches,,,, yes I buffed and wet sanded all weekend no luck at all. Gets to feel very smooth but in the sun it's all still there.

I finally got the stuff out but could see tiny swirls or micro marring. Kept trying and succeeded in going through the clear with a flex. I obviously went to far wet sanding. I can't figure this out. The entire truck looks just like this. There is no way this is scratches. They are all Lined up the same way !!

That is clear coat checking or crazing... Basically the clear coat has cracked.. It will not sand or buff out unless it is stripped. Usually worse on upper panels like hoods ect. Sorry it needs paint

Thank you so much. At least it's nothing wrong with me as I tried very hard when I saw the tiny swirls there was just a tiny layer of clear left. At this time I went through the clear slightly. But now I know it can't be corrected. Thank you !
