Is Adams Polishes Safe for Boats and Aircraft?

RDillon15

Question

Just wondering if these products will actually function as well as they do on boats and planes as well as they work on cars, I understand it is different paint and all but just seeing if some of the soap and polish will actually work or do more harm than good? Thanks in advance!

YES and YES!

The idea of marine or aircraft specific products is a little bit of marketing snake-oil. The polishes, cleaners, and protectants used on a car with traditional paint will work just fine on the gelcoat of a boat or the paint (imron) used on aircraft. The only difference is the capability of things like polishes. Gelcoat and imron are substantially harder than automotive clear so for example - a light scratch that might come out with 1 pass of PFP and a white pad on a car... a similar scratch on a boat might take PCP + orange pads to correct.

My standard advice to people using our stuff for marine/aircraft applications - "turn the volume up 1 notch" in other words go one level more aggressive. We actually sell a fair amount of bulk chemical to some government facilities for high profile aircraft care as well as local law enforcement agencies caring for helicopters in various cities around the US.

In terms of protection, clearly a boat or a plane are going to see different environments than a car as well... Planes will see high speeds and sun exposure for the mostpart, then be stored in a hanger. Boats might be left in the water for extended periods of time. In these cases the way a sealant lasts might change, but it will still work just fine.

One area to consider for boat care - if you're going to wash in a harbor our soap hasn't been tested/certified for that purpose. There are marine washes that are approved to use in/near the water. Outside of that - use our stuff on your cars, trucks, suv's, bikes, boats, airplaines, helicopters, submarines, trains, monorails, hangliders, and anything else you might want to keep clean.
