Laid GP
Hey everyone, I have some hand pinstriping done on my hood and tailgate that is on top of the clear. What is a best practice for polishing around it? I assume I could just tape it off but thought I would ask here for pointers.
0 mc2hill
Yes, tape would be your best bet. Pick up a few different widths to make it easier.
0 b_pappy
Just be gentle with the tape too, I have several pinstriped vehicles, including the business truck in my avatar. When polishing, I only work up close to, but stay away from the striped areas. Then I gently hand polish up to the stripes, and over the striping, in the direction of the stripes, not across them. That applies to anytime you go over the striping, even washing & drying, Detail Spray, etc, go with the stripe. Obviously with a design, like on my tailgate, there is no direction, so just be gentle. My truck striping is over 5 years old now and still looks great. Let me know if you have any other questions. Bruce
