Clay Bar and Detail Spray?

Since I always keep my cars with a nice coat of Fine Machine Polish, Machine Super Wax and Detail Spray, I have noticed that when I clay, twice a year, it glides nicely without the need of the Detail Spray lubrication. It seems to pick up all the paint contamination faster and better. I have done this twice without creating swirl marks on my finish.

 

I'm I hurting the paint by using the clay bar without Detail Spray?

If you can make it happen great! Honestly I'd still use the Detail Spray as an added bit of protection plus the Detail Spray helps keep the clay bar from drying out.

Jason, I have the purple clay bar. I have a piece of it that I have used twice now. It is probably about half the actual bar. Is there any recommended times it can be used? It would seem that if you use it and it is collecting dirt and other materials that it would actually end up do more harm then good. Should it be discarded after each use or can it be used over and over?

It can be used till it stops turning up a clean side or feels dry. Use it till it feels grainy and gets hard to work with.
