2006 Porsche 911 4S

Bill-V8V

Question

I have a friend of a friend coming over Saturday, looks like someone was jealous of his car so decided to take a key to it ? :help::help::help:

It's that nice Dark Olive Green Metallic, a nice little 3K option. He just picked it up in Florida so it was a nice clean car. I'm going to see how far I can take it as he said you can just barely feel it. We'll see :xfingers::xfingers::xfingers:

It should go well, this picture is of my sister in laws CR-V, and it’s never been detailed......ever.

Wash, clay, SHR, and I got it to this point

So by looking at what I had to deal with, you should have no problem, but then again it was Honda paint, it corrected nicely.

Okay so I'll bite as I might have some Porsche's that want to be detailed. What are you guys talking about when you talk about gumming up?

Little bits of dried up polish that get flung everywhere. It's doesn't happen as much with a dual action or Porter Cable as long as you keep the speeds low. I've only used two polishes that didn't gum up on me - one is about $100 a bottle after import costs and the other was a 3M finishing polish.

Prior to using Adam's, I used to polish my previous Audi with other polishes and I would get spots of what felt like rubber goo, but this goo never damaged the paint.

When I first used Adam's I would get dried up polish flung everywhere, I’ve learned to prime the pad, add a sprits of DS, use less product and as a result you will get less dried up polish over your finish..

Audi and Porsche clears are one off the hardest coats out there.. Good luck and have fun!

Ok, so the 4S shows up right on time and then I get the real story of the scratch. He tried to wipe dried bird crap off with a paper towel :help::help:

So by the time I was done lecturing him on proper car care, the long version ;), I forgot to take before pictures :mad:

So I washed it cause it was filthy and I'd never send anyone away with one clean door and wanted to teach him some proper wash techniques !!!!

This thing was full of swirls but unless he wanted to leave it for a week I wasn't going to attempt to do the whole thing, lots of curves on that body ;)

By the time I did all the prep and removed 95% of the scratch clouds started moving in so I decided to throw a coat of Americana on it and call it a day. We needed time to do some driving !!!!!

I don't know how Audi paint/clear compares to Porsche, but I've never had any problems at all with Adam's stuff on the Audi. In fact, the clear is hard and takes a good bit of work, but the results are really good -- my Audi "responds" to a thorough Adam's process much better than my Vette.
