OIF Vet
I currently have the stock chrome shell on my truck and I've been looking for a black one for over a year now. Either they have been to much money or pretty much ugly. Plus, I couldn't find any that were painted to match. Also, that would have been at least $100 to paint. Last week I was looking on the internet and really didn't find anything I liked, as suspected. I decided to look for auto salvage yards in my area. To make a long story short I found a Dodge OEM painted Black shell with the chrome horizontal inserts attached. It also came with the big mounting bracket that is connected on the back of the shell. There is absolutely no damage but there are 2 missing mounting screws that I can easily take those off my chrome shell. Tonight I went ahead and clayed the shell and used my Portal Cable to get the swirls and imperfections out using my 4" pads. I only used SHR since my backing plate broke when I switched to use the white pad.:mad: Here are some pictures. Before: After a quick wash, clay and using SHR with the orange pad: I must say not to bad for $50 Rob

OIF Vet
I forgot the most important part of this whole swap. As I wrote in my original post, my small backing plate broke while using the orange pad. After some helpful advice from Bill, I sent Steve an email about the pad on Wednesday night. So, Friday morning about 10, I had a new set of pads and a nice little surprise waiting for me at my front door. That is some AWESOME customer service!!!!! Thanks again Steve.
