My First Use of Americana

scott53

Question

I just finished my first wax with Americana. It was my first waxing of my Torch Red 2010 Corvette Grand Sport. In a word, AMAZING! Americana was easy-on, easy-off and the Corvette looks great; it just glows. After washing and drying it took me about two hours to wax. It is by far the easiest to use paste wax I have ever done with the best results.

I've been using Adam's products for about three months. Last weekend I attended the Adam's Detailing Clinic at Grabiak Performance Center in New Alexandria, PA. Thank you GPC for hosting the event and thank you Adam and Junkman for presenting the clinic. I learned so much about how to properly care for my cars. Every Adam's product I have used has been the best and they are so easy to use that they save me a lot of time. With my work schedule that is a big plus.

Next weekend the Camaro gets its first wax.

Beautiful vert and wax job Tim! That Americana is a fantastic product.

I'm with you Jeremy, I think that Chevy hit a homerun with the GS. The roads in SW PA are in such bad condition, we have so much traffic, and there are so many State Police everywhere that I can't use the 430 hp of the LS3 and the 505 hp of the Z06 would be a total waste for me. My bet is that when the 2010 production figures are released we will see that a lot of GS coupes and convertibles were sold. It may very well be the model that saved the Corvette this year.

I used my Americana for the first time just two weeks ago, myself! It is great stuff. I agree, easy on and off, and it makes the finish look great.

Great pics and beautiful cars, how long did you let it sit on the car before buffing it off? thanks.

For me, I didn't wipe it right off, since that tended to just spread it around. I let it dry just a few minutes, then buffed it off with the plush white towel. Not sure if this was dangerous for the clear coat, though... We need an Adams rep to chime in. :)

3 to 5 minutes before wiping off seemed to be about right. 5 to 10 was okay and 15 was too long.

Two weeks ago my wife and I put two thin coats of Americana on the Camaro. I drive this one in the rain and at 40+ mph the water just blows off. I love it! The Corvette still has only one coat on it and I would like to get a second on it very soon.

Great looking Vette plus it is the proper color. As the old saying goes, "All Corvette's are Red, the Rest are Mistakes". <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com<img src=" /><o:p></o:p>

If you think the Americana Wax makes the paint pop, add a coat of Brilliant Spray Glaze. I put a coat on last week and I will be adding a coat here in a few minutes and then a coat of the BSG first thing tomorrow prior to a local car show.<o:p></o:p>

I love the new Grand Sports and I like the strip package. In fact I have a set of two tone fender strips Cyber Gray with a silver boarder strip in my garage that I just have not gotten around to installing. I saw the color on a TR Gs at the museum and thought it looked nice. I realize that the fender strips are not for everyone. <o:p></o:p>

I'll have to try the BSG sometime. Thanks for the tip.

One time I look at the GS's with fender stripes and love it, the next time I look at them I'm not as certain that I like. it. I've been going back and forth on this since I bought my GS on March 8. For now mine doesn't have them (or "it" if driver's side only) but that may change. Someday I'll quit waffling and decide which way I like it better

Never tried it. Buttery is part canauba and part synthetic, so I am not sure. I know you can put Americana (heavily carnauba) over the MSW which is a synthetic.

I think the BSG could be wiped off with WW or maybe DS, as it is not durable at all (but looks great). I would do a wipe down, then try it. Worst case is you will have to remove the buttery, right?

i just received my first tub of Americana here are my takes, its a huge tub, the consistency is hard, mine didnt come with a hex applicator im not sure why? the shine is very glossy and the wax is so easy to apply and remove like everyone said, the only thing is the smell, i read some where its like pina colada or a tropical smell??? not sure, its definatly not great smelling its not terrible but not good either?

Yeah, sounds about right - that's a fair approximation of eucalyptus!

The new Americana tubs are eucalyptus scented - that's the way my tub smells, too.

If you happen to have the red&black Hex applicator, you can put it on with that (also the yellow&black one, the replacement for the red&black one). The part of the pad touching the car has the same qualities in either color.

What is the americana supposed to smell like, mine smells like 409 and pinesol mixed?

That's funny you said that. I just got mine first tub of Americana yesterday. The wife told me it smelled like Pinesol. She said it doesn't smell bad, but doesn't smell anywhere near as good as the other products I have.

I am an author in the collectible US martial arms field and I own the publishing company. I also publish books by other authors in the field. And I sell high-end collectible US martial arms off of our Web site. All those years of 60-80 hour work weeks has paid off. Cleaning and driving the Corvette and Camaro gets me away from my day job and provides mental relief from the real world.

My wife says that the Camaro is hers. And here I thought the Impala was hers. :)
