rusman
Hello, My drivers side floor mat has a couple of spots that are matted badly from my heel. What's the best way to resolve the issue? I've tried the carpet brush and carpet cleaner but they didn't help too much.
0 Masonr97
A DA mounted carpet brush with Adams carpet and upholstery cleaner works when my carpet is matted down. rusman
0 Team Adam's
^^^ this. It at least gives you the best chance of bringing it back, but honestly most of the time there is no completely fixing it. The wear seen under the heel position on a floor mat is going to have broken loops in the carpet fibers from the heel of your shoes grinding into it.Occasionally carpet mats will just need to be replaced if you wnat them to look perfect, or go with a mat that has a built in (usually rubber) heel strike plate. 0 rusman
Thanks Dylan. I've been thinking about having one set of mats that I use everyday and one set for when I go to the big car shows, but was hoping to reduce the amount of extra "stuff" that I have to haul with me to these shows. Do you have any recommendations for a good rhythm of things I can do in the future to minimize the problem with the next set of mats?
0 TheBurninator
Thanks Dylan. Do you have any recommendations for a good rhythm of things I can do in the future to minimize the problem with the next set of mats? This is what I do essentially. I have rubber mats for normal use in the car and then stock carpet mats for shows. I just swap them out in the garage the night before I am heading to a show. 0 Rich
I never have bare floor mats in any car. Weathertech floor liners are the best made. Or when I don't need heavy protection like in the winter, I have clear floor mats over the carpet. Easier to clean mats that you can take out than to clean carpet all the time. rusman
0 rusman
Thanks Rich. Weather isn't the problem here since I live in California. I do like the idea of clear mats over the carpet ones. I drive sometimes a thousand miles or more to some of the national mustang club shows and the clear mat idea would work well to keep my carpet mats in good shape during the long drive. 0 Rich
rusman, take a look at the Lloyds mats. I've been using their brand for nearly 15 years with great results. The clear ones will turn yellow over time (like 5 or 6 years) and will need replaced, but they're not so expensive that you can't easily do it. Plus after 6 years if it's your daily driver........you're about ready for a new ride anyhow. As for the car shows, I don't drive quite that far for any show, but my Vette has 60th Anniversary mats in it and the clear mats keep them protected while I drive and they're easy out for shows, then pop back in to drive again. Lots of shows I've attended wanted all mats out, but visible which is a major pain, but what can you do? I do very few shows nowadays. Good luck with your shows and that Mustang!! 0 BitterGreg
What are the options for attachments to a DA. Does the Cyclo versions fit on all other DA's? I have seen a Hook and Loop option, but do not want that.
0 Team Adam's
The cyclo brush fits any polisher with a 5/16" input shaft - so Porter Cable 7424xp and many other popular polishers. Ricky Bobby
0 rusman
take a look at the Lloyds mats. I've been using their brand for nearly 15 years with great results. That's what I have now. I must be hard on the lloyds mats because my drivers side mat is showing damage after a year.
