waterless wash . . . different towels?
HFX Detailing replied to HFX Detailing's question in Exterior Protection & Enhancement
I did, however I have the waterless wash, not rinseless wash. In the video, the double soft is used with the rinseless wash. Dylan uses the waffle towel for waterless wash with the waterless wash. So, for my question, sounds like the double soft is out but the drying towel should work? -
waterless wash . . . different towels?
HFX Detailing posted a question in Exterior Protection & Enhancement
Hey guys, just wondering what the results are of using waterless wash with different towels such as the drying towel or even single/double soft micro. My GF is amazing and surprised me with waterless wash WOOO. Just wondering if I need to make an order for waterless wash towels or not. Can I get away with using other towels for now (such as single soft)? Thanks! Merry Christmas! -
I have tried: meguiars clay, adams old clay, and adams new clay. the new clay is my favorite and is better than the other two I listed. I dont have experience with others, but from what i've been told because of the patent that was in place before most of them were the same (although the adams old clay and the meguiars clay were VERY different). I recommend adams new clay x10000.

speed for soft paint
HFX Detailing replied to HFX Detailing's question in Paint Correction & Polishing
Thanks all! After working with both soft and hard paint now...the hard was easier to work with ahah. The journey continues! Trying out the folks vehicle next as a long awaited birthday gift. -
speed for soft paint
HFX Detailing replied to HFX Detailing's question in Paint Correction & Polishing
I thought the red was for glaze and the grey is for sealant? Do they have cutting power? I am confused. I used the grey one for my sealant, does that mean it cutt or is it only when the polish is involved. -
speed for soft paint
HFX Detailing replied to HFX Detailing's question in Paint Correction & Polishing
Thanks. I have lots of practice to go! I stayed mostly with speed 4. I tried as high as 6. I varied my arm speed, but I probably needed to tweek it a bit more. Cheers -
What do you recommend for speeds on a flex using the two step on a mitsubishi lancer (soft paint) I tried speed 4 for 3-5 passes for each step 1 and 2 on the foam system. Most scratches where gone but some small ones stayed. It's possible they were induced when wiping away the polish residue... but not sure. Any suggestions?

Update : tried the actual new clay today. Oh. My. God. Huge difference. Like a million times better. One pass would get more stuff than the old stuff. Just to make sure I wasn't crazy, I tried both old and new on the same vehicle and wow it is a huge difference. Amazing. Simply amazing.

Tested out the flex...everyone should try a tester!
HFX Detailing replied to HFX Detailing's question in Paint Correction & Polishing
Thanks, I will have nightmares tonight about my car going through what that trunk did lol. I wish I could have video taped me using the flex so someone could have looked over it :/ I found that when I put polish on the foam pad, there would be still polish in the middle unless I pushed down really hard. -

Chewy, shhhh...do not fill my head with such crazy things. I do not need a PC or Cyclo...I do not need a PC or Cyclo...I need a...darn.... I am aware you need more for a full correction. I am still surprised with what I got for my first try. -
Tested out the flex...everyone should try a tester!
HFX Detailing posted a question in Paint Correction & Polishing
Long story short I got my Flex in and I was so happy to finally get it (even though I told myself I would NOT get it until next year...) and I decided to test it. I bought a spare part off of kijiji to test on, since I did not want to try it on a vehicle first. Once I obtained said part, I cleaned it and put it through hell. You will see what I mean once you look at the album. Do not try what I did on anyones vehicle ever. After, I tried to 2 step polish system with the foam pads. I will try the Micro-fibre next and then mix and match the two so I get a feel for both. I must say, I am glad I tested it out on a dummy part first. The flex is easy to use, but I felt more comfortable trying it out on a piece I did not care for. I quickly (within minutes) learned how to handle the Flex and also found out very quickly how much the sucker wants to get away from you. By the end, I felt like I could tackle my own car. I am hoping this weekend is good enough to do my car. Enough chit chat, here is the album: http://imgur.com/a/OoXXe Questions, comments? -
That would be cool! Thanks Dylan, it has been cleared up and remarkably quickly!

Thank you Chewy! Email sent. Panic avoided folks Now, I just need to find something to clay so I can see the difference between the two hands on... that is one plus side to this story (since I already opened and used the first "older" clay)

Thanks Dylan, I am not asking about the differences though between new and old. Rather, trying to find out why I received two different clays which I thought should have been the same. I found one kit which is the "GM Licensed" One, it has a picture of the same clay I received. It is the ADAMS GM OFFICIALLY LICENSED BASIC CORVETTE & CAMARO DETAIL KIT I am referring too. (Note, I did not buy this kit, I am just stating it has a picture of the clay I received in my first clay order) My order had said "NEW! Adam's Made in the USA Detailing Clay Combo-with 16oz Detail Spray" and was dated September 23rd. Judging by the responses, I received the wrong clay?

So the circular container is not new? I might have to call up Adams tomorrow to figure out if they are the same or not. Did you have the old one SYMAWD, was it in the circle container? I bought both of these clays after the new clay was out.

Both clay are rectangle, the containers differ though. They both "look" the same.

Not sure the right place for this... I ordered clay 2 weeks ago and just ordered the flex package that comes with clay. The first clay came in a round container that screws on. This is in 1 big piece. The second came in a rectangle container that snaps on. This is in 2 smaller pieces. Is there a difference in the clay?

Carnauba over Super Sealant
HFX Detailing replied to Sixgun95's question in General Detailing Discussion and Questions
I ordered some super sealant and americana...I will let you know my answer soon -
Hey guys, This has been discussed before but I could not really find the answer to this question. Since glaze does not last long, people say to put wax over it. If you do that, would it not make the wax last less? SO i was wondering. If it does make wax last less, would it make sense for me to go sealant, wax, glaze, wax? Or, does the wax still keep its effect even if glaze wears out? It might be I am confused or don't understand the science, so if someone could help me out with understanding that would be great. Cheers.
