  1. Organized my applicator bins to make room for 8 more hex grip applicators, refilled some spray bottles, got my new gallon of Leather Conditioner set up with a pump, used APC to clean my kids' summer footwear.

Wet-sanded some touch-up paint I put on my Dad's Jeep earlier this week, then put on another coat to level it out.  Will have to sand and polish it next weekend.  While I was working on the scratch, he used some Rinseless Wash dilution (1:8) to clean the bugs off the windshield and was really impressed with how well it worked.  I also did a quick interior detail to get him hooked on the LC.

  2. After reading many posts from Sizzle Chest, I added TIP #15 to post #19.  LEAST AGGRESSIVE FIRST!

As a newbie, I was so caught up in all the great products, I would use some of the cleaners when it was not really needed.  I went through a whole bottle of DWC before it occurred to me that my wheels were never really that dirty, I should have just been using Car Wash Shampoo.

  3. I decided to try one of the Kwazar Venus Pro compression sprayers with a foamer tip for cleaning the wheels and tires with APC

The wheels on the truck were not in need of a scrubbing, so I tested it on the Jeep.  The left side I sprayed with a standard sprayer and the right side got foamed.

The foamer tip seems to add some foaming to the APC, which helps it hang a little longer.

The only downside to the compression sprayer is it really pumps out the product and with the foaming tip, there is not much control over the amount coming out.  If you twist the tip to reduce the amount of product, it only sprays out a few inches.  I sprayed the tires, wheels and wells and went through 3/4 of a liter.  Too much to use on a regular washing, but for the occasional scrubbing to remove a few layers of Tire Shine and Quick Sealant it would work better than just a standard sprayer.  I would not use the compression sprayer on the wheel wells again since it uses too much product.

  4. So I am about to purchase a new GMC Denali and need some serious help when it comes to buying new products to clean and protect it with. I never researched this much with my previous truck but I am wanting to start off with the best for this one. I cleaned out the garage and will be starting from scratch as far as products go. Any help would be appreciated. I do have leather seats so I know the cleaner and conditioner is a must.

The answer to you question depends on what your budget is.  If funds are limited due to the truck purchase, then just start with the COMPLETE 2 BUCKET WASH KIT.  This will help you keep your new truck clean, and with proper methods (watch the videos) you can avoid introducing swirls and scratches.

If your budget allows, step up to the ESSENTIALS DETAIL KIT and add a second GRIT GUARD CAR WASH BUCKET and CAR WASH PAD, as others have already suggested.

Then add the PERFECT INTERIOR KIT to keep the inside clean and protected.

A bottle of Microfiber Revitalizer & Brightener is a must for cleaning towels and applicators.

If you can swing it, get the gallon refills, extra towels and sealants that are in LFairbank's list.  If not, you can add them later as needed.

  5. They are having some issues with the shipping options but it is not happening to everyone.  Last week, when I would go to checkout, I only saw the $9.95 Ground Shipping option.  I just tried checking out to test and I am getting the same thing you are seeing "Sorry, no quotes are available for this order at this time".

I would try again later today or tomorrow as they might be working on it right now, thus the "no quotes" message.  If it does not get resolved, give them a call on Monday.

  6. Use a machine, if you have one, with a sealant or wax pad.  I have found that the LPS is the hardest product to remove and a machine will help you get a nice, thin coat that will be easier to remove.  When I apply anything by hand, even BG, I never get as thin and even a coat as with a machine, and the thicker and uneven coats are way more work to remove.

A few weeks ago I was in a hurry and put on a coat of BG by hand and it ended up taking longer to remove it than the last application I did with the machine.  If I had just gotten out the Cyclo to begin with, the overall time would have been shorter.

  7. Mat,

Is there a way to view dealers on the new web?

Hopefully the Dealer List makes it back with some major updating.  Many of the dealers listed don't have current websites, don't return emails, and a few are no longer dealers.  Over the last few months I had placed orders on a three of the dealer websites for items that were discontinued on the main site (like hex grips, a hoodie, some 4oz products, a brush) and they all  that ended up getting canceled because they had no stock. I also emailed a few other dealers that don't have websites and never heard back.  I even had issues with the Adam's Hawaii site, which was odd as it appeared to look the same as the old main site, but it was also outdated and listed items that were not in stock.  I placed an order for a hoodie, got a email that is was out-of-stock, emailed him back about whether there was another size in stock, was told there were no sizes in stock and to order from the corporate website, and they are still listed on the Adamshawaii.com site.

The only dealers I have had good service from are Thompson Racing and Detailer's Domain. :2thumbs:

Ann, if you want to look at the old dealer list, it is still available on adamshawaii.com but I won't link that website because I am still mad about the AP hoodie.

  8. The new Tracking Information link on the View Order screen seems to be displaying times in Greenwich Mean Time (or Coorinated Universal Time rather than Mountain Standard Time (for Colorado).  I also would like to have a tracking link in the shipment notification email that either goes directly to the FedEx website, as it had previously been done, or opens the Tracking Information window from the AP website without having to log in to your profile.  This would be easier than having to log in to the website or copying the tracking number over to FedEx's website.

Also, I would really, really prefer that the new website stops logging me out after a few hours.

Lastly, thanks to all the Adam's crew for their hard work on the new site.  It is a very nice update and once all the bugs are worked out will be fantastic.

  9. I decided to upgrade my detailing stool as the Craftsman one I had been using has small wheels that get hung up on the expansion joints in the concrete, a few times nearly tipping over.

I went with a Traxion ProGear Racing Gear Seat.  I have a ProGear creeper and I knew the larger 5" wheels go over the slab joints much easier.  The new seat is much better, I wish I had got it a long time ago.  The seat is deep with good side support and the handle makes it easier to move around.  The seat adjusts from about 14 to 18 inches.

The seat comes with a tool tray that spins around but I did not use it as I just hit my heels on the old seats tray.  I think it works much better without the tray.

While this model is imported, Traxion does have two American Made creepers and a few "USA Assembled and Inspected" seats, so at least they are trying.

UPDATE - Traxion's website now lists this seat as being Made in the USA, along with a few of their creepers.  I have the ProGear WideBody Creeper and I really like it because it has a contour that adds some lower back support, rather than just being flat.

  10. While I don't do waterless washes, I do use the 1:8 Rinseless dilution for pre-treating bugs when doing a typical two-bucket wash with shampoo.  Same dilution as 16oz/gallon but I put 4oz in a 1L Kwazar.  A really buggy time and I will use 16-20oz of dilution in one wash.  Spray, soak, rinse, repeat, until most of the bugs are gone.  Couldn't afford to use that much actual Waterless Wash.
