  1. My advice is Ceramic Coat, clean the paint like others have suggested... get it awesome and then ceramic coat it. After that you can wash it off with a stern glare and dry it with a light fanning. Ok, it may take some rinseless and a sidekick, but it's super easy. Evo is a great car, and show of wonderfully with a detail. Welcome, and good luck.
  2. you take great pictures, your truck looks great! I love the sand on the wheels of the otherwise very clean truck. nicely done.
  3. Welcome, what are you toys?!!!!! Pics, we like pics!
  4. I keep a bucket of rinseless with the gamma seal on it in the garage. I wipe the car down -regularly- since it is handy and so easy. I have two sets of towels (my car is small), I used 4 each time and rotate them. It really is easy and only takes a few minutes to wash the car off and dry it (with a master blaster). You've got a bigger challenge with the 4 Runner (MUCH BIGGER), that's a lot of towels! I used to leave my car (not the vette) at an airport park and ride and yeah, the dirt/dust was crazy after only 1 week. I can't imagine 3. I just take ride share services to the airport now. Also, the price of a burger is a small fee for an assistant. Apprentice Shine Technicians (gotta be an acronym friendly name there somewhere) are hard to find, and even harder to keep! Apprentice Shine Subordinates?
  5. Time to dry will depend a bit on the paint protection you have. My ceramic coated vette takes just a few minutes as I don't have to chase water all around the panels and I can stand farther back and cover more area. I just did a new sonic and before wax it took longer as I kinda chased the water around the panels. But still, it is silly fast, not sure on the sonic but the vette is probably like 5 minutes, front and back takes most of the time.
  6. yeah, I like it for the ease of application. I love the color of my car but the corvette paint has so much orange peel it doens't really let Patriot 'shine'. It looks good certainly, but I think it is overkill for the vette. Maybe the 2018s will take better advantage of it (Chevy is supposed to be improving the paint process dramticaly) But that said, holy crap does it make that airbrushed ford look amazing! and, yes... the mustang looks good too I guess
  7. I think partly cloudy days are the best for American pony or muscle cars. Something about the unstable sky makes the cars more badass. If you can catch clouds reflected in the paint... holy crap that's car pron right there. A day like this is perfect. Too bad my car isn't in this pic... jus a viper, a vette... some Ferrari
  8. I have a differently branded detailing bag like the second you linked. I bring it to HPDE days and help people with their cars. Ok, I clean the other vettes as well as mine between sessions. Anyway, that's not important. Get both bags.
  9. Ok perhaps that's more detailing opportunities than anyone needs. I grew up in western Pennsylvania, 40 sunny days a year got old. Now I'm in Texas, no shortage of sun... though spontaneous combustion is a concern.
  10. It rained today and the car actually got dirty. Saturday's gonna be a fun day, bust out the foam cannon, the revive polish, the master blaster! So many towels! Man, we are a weird bunch... I mean. I'm not alone here am I? Am I? Hello, my name is Don... and I have a problem...
  11. Yeah, hose cleans it up pretty well and I'll squeeze it out by hand because harsh chemicals and grime never hurt anybody! I usually rinse it out between wheels too because it gets just full of brake dust.
  12. First, this sounds annoying as heck and I hope you find a good solution... but it did remind me of this, and I had a small chuckle at your expense. For which I am sorry. A clip from Tommy Boy.. Bees! Bees Everywhere!
  13. yeah, the Stingray badge on the side of my car is a terror on these towels. I tape the badges off now (if I think about it). Doesn't hurt the towels though, just triggers the OCD.
  14. yeah, we just finished the Oak season, which is after the Cedar season. Now we have a few things like Pecan but that's not too bad. But I was Waterless washing my car, and my towels every couple days. The Ceramic Coating I applied in December was the best decision. Really helped make the Waterless process simple and safe. Good luck to those of you in the rest of the country
  15. That is gorgeous! The ceramic coating will really help get the rubber off from the track days Have fun!
  16. I'm in the 4oz camp for knocking pollen and light dust off (corvette though so it is small). The car is ceramic coated so that makes it easier to clean with waterless wash. When I run out of this gallon I'm moving to Rinseless for the added flexibility and economy.
  17. I think the foam cannon is fun, so I do what Avimore suggested. Twice the foaming fun!
  18. This. I just finished polishing a black car today and I had a very similar spot near a door handle where I was working out a scratch. It was just hardened heavy correcting compound. It took a fair amount of rubbing with detail spray and eventually all pourpose cleaner but it came off. Hope that's the situation here. Good luck
  19. I know that when I put on clear tape for track days the waxing before I put it on is so it comes off easier. I wouldn't think you want wax under the long term clear film. Ceramic coating likely wouldn't hurt but you could probably skip boost.
  20. I live in austin as well, the struggle is real. This year I'm using waterless wash as I did the ceramic paint coating on this care. The waterless process is working great and I'll stick with it. Previous years I had a black car that just had paint sealant/ wax. I used detail spray and rinseless on it. Black cars and pollen are a punishment from god. New one is blue, easier all around. Good luck with the cedar, oak, pine and whatever else blows your way.
  21. Blue Waffle Waterless Wash towels. Because I do waterless wash A LOT and they work very well and stand up to repeated washings with the microfiber cleaner.
