  1. Really the only time it becomes beneficial and acceptable to 'go over' the clay residues is if you're jumping to polish. A polish imparts change to the finish, and leaves almost nothing behind, because of this its fine to go over the clay residues to save time. With something like a sealant you are actually depositing a layer of something, so applying sealant over the residue will generally result in the residue/smears/etc being under the sealant and leaving you with a less than ideal finish. Hopefully that makes sense. Long story short - if you're going right from clay to sealant, I'd wash and dry the car or at the very least wipe off the residues with a towel and more detail spray.
  2. ^ spot on! Even the light abrasive properties of finishing polish and a white pad will be enough to knock your sealant down, so you'll need to re-seal after polishing, but as Beemer pointed out - it will also gum up your pads to a degree making for less effective polishing.
  3. final countdown! about 50 minutes remaining to get your mystery box
  4. Correct. APC will remove a wax or sealant, but to be honest the odds are a critter of that size impacting your paint probably took whatever was on the surface with it so you probably need to reapply protection anyways. Lets remember - these guys are hard on the outside and impacting your bumper at high speed - the microscopic layer of wax or sealant over your paint is helping prevent it from sticking too badly, but its likely gone after that hit. Theres also the chance that whatever 'goo' left behind was not kind to the protection - some bug guts will even etch paint, so if the impact didn't get it, the guts might. So.... if WW or diluted RW isn't getting the job done don't be affraid to use a little APC and warm water to get the job done. You can rewax just that area/panel/whatever as needed.
  5. Good feedback Chris. I've cleaned a lot of trucks of similar year/make/model and never experienced any water penetration issues, but helpful to know its happened.
  6. Thats good news Gabriel. Not sure how I overlooked this, but I apologize. If for any reason in the future I miss a question, never hesitate to email me directly - dylan@adamspolishes.com or shinedoc@adamspolishes.com
  7. ^ A picture would definitely help... would you say you saw any improvement at all with the LIC or APC or were the spots completely unchanged?
  8. Any pictures of the scratch? I might have a prototype product that isn't what you're looking for, but would help.
  9. I try to limit the use of mine as much as possible, but certain seasons here in CO its virtually impossible not to - like driving out E470 to the airport in spring. I pretty much feel like my windshield is responsible for the genocide of entire bug species on that drive and if I didn't use the wipers and fluid I wouldn't be able to see anything! LOL
  10. Like the others have said, if you like your current product I'm sure you'll love TID. Its an awesome interior care product. On the coating - we're working on an exterior coating, but nothing finalized as of now (if thats what you mean)
  11. Sometimes you just have to keep some product in the car for emergencies. Its just unavoidable. The bottles I travel with I do a few things differently with. I make sure they are 1/2 - 2/3rds full. Expansion from heat can cause the bottles to pop and leak, so keeping them below full gives the product room to expand if it has to. I also keep them wrapped in towels and inside of a travel bag so if a leak happens I'm not cleaning it out of the carpet or liners. Lastly I make sure to check them frequently - its easy to forget about that bottle in the trunk, so when I do the weekly (or so) wash and interior cleaning I check the status of the bottles and even use some of the product to make sure its still working as it should.

  15. Lots of good tips in here already. Pretty much theres no way to stop it short of pulling the wheels, scouring the existing rust off (with a wire brush) and painting the rotor hats with appropriate high temp paint. The faces of the rotors will rust anytime they get wet and dry, but the good news is that surface is scrubbed clean the next time you tap the brakes so its not a big deal.
  16. Interesting. Can you post a wider shot of the same spot so I can get a better idea of where on the car it is?
  17. Thats awesome. I'm very much the same way - I want new owners to enjoy teh vehicles as much as I did... its also heartbreaking when it goes to a home where its not taken care of (which happened to one of my cars in the past). Looks like the new owner drove away in a VERY clean mini!
  18. ^^^ yep! Doesn't help the wax perform any better, but it does save your arm/shoulders some additional work.
