How Much Would You Charge?
rickzilla09 replied to Threehunnastunna's question in General Detailing Discussion and Questions
a detail and paint correction in 2 hours? that is blazing fast! I don't think I've ever done a stage 1 paint correction for less that $300 which is about 5-6 hours of work. -

That is why I love living in Phoenix, Arizona. Summers get really hot but most of the year it's dry and very little rain.

Cost Of Detailing
rickzilla09 replied to GratefulDiver's question in General Detailing Discussion and Questions
I'm typically only detail my car but word of mouth has spread at the office how much of a detail junkie I am. I just recently did a co-workers Honda Civic Si for $130. That included a premium wash (2-bucket wash, ext trim cleaned/dressed, wheels cleaned/dressed, glass inside/out, full vacuum and interior dusted). The vehicle had very minor swirls and at the customers request only wanted me to clay it and apply sealant. Took me like 3 hours so I made about $43 an hour. -
Product Staining on Concrete?
rickzilla09 replied to KSRegalGS's question in General Detailing Discussion and Questions
I always soak the area with water before applying any heavy duty wheel cleaners or undercarriage spray. This is about 99% effective for me in preventing any stains on the concrete. -

How bad did I screw up?
rickzilla09 replied to paoutdoorsman's question in General Detailing Discussion and Questions
I wouldn't say you screwed up. I always let it cure overnight before I apply a coat of wax. But, a lot of the newer stuff allows you top it within the hour. -

scratches under door handle
rickzilla09 replied to Graham's question in Paint Correction & Polishing
I grabbed a 5" pad and cut into 4 sections to fit underneath the door handle and took out about 90% of the imperfections. -
Best Polisher in $100-150 range?
rickzilla09 replied to PT3's question in Paint Correction & Polishing
In this price range I would suggest Griots random orbital or even a cheapo for under $100 at Harbor Freight. -
Rupes mini 75 with Adams products
rickzilla09 replied to dave5514's question in Paint Correction & Polishing
As others have mentioned you will use it maybe 10-15% while polishing your car. Is it worth the cost? Depends on what you have in your budget. If you have the cash to spend it's definitely worth it. I finally ponied up the cash and picked one up. -
Polishing what looks to be an excellent condition car
rickzilla09 replied to Z06Seal's question in Paint Correction & Polishing
I would never use Dawn or any dish soap on my paint. They are not intended or made to be used on your vehicle. Instead I could suggest combining Adams APC with some car shampoo. I use a citrus blend. On that note does anyone know if Adams will ever offer a citrus based shampoo for decontamination? -
I bought a cheapo from Harbor Freight many years ago. I used it constantly for about 4 years and it did the job. I don't use it all that much anymore...occasionally use it to nano scrub the car. I think I must have paid like $60 bucks for it 8 years ago. This is one looks almost identical to the model I have and it's only $68. http://www.harborfreight.com/6-in-57-amp-heavy-duty-dual-action-variable-speed-polisher-69924.html

Did I ruin my polishing pad?
rickzilla09 replied to Frogman's question in Paint Correction & Polishing
I have never used dish soap to wash my pads. But it sounds like you could be spot on as the tiny particles can easily get embedded into your pad. For me I usually wash my pads with some Adams APC and mild water. I generally repeat the process 2-3 times depending on how dirty they are.
