  1. I apologize if this has been asked before, I couldn't find a thread. My question is, I would like to get my truck ready for a car show, I've never entered a vehicle in a show so I'm new at this. My truck is a 95 F150 with several paint defects, but overall looks pretty good for a 21 year old truck that was kept in a barn. My plan was to clay, then use the paint correcting polish and after that paint finishing polish. Should I then follow up with the Americana wax? Will that give me the shine I'm after? Also, is it OK to then maintain that with the Guard and Gloss?

My big question is, am i defeating the purpose of some products by using other products on top fo them. I know, a lot to answer here, thanks for your help.

Also, I'm talking about Ford Nationals at Carlisle, I'm really hoping Adam's is going to be there this year!

  2. I'm using Adam's pads, started with the orange microfiber then on to the orange foam. I went to wipe off the paint correcting polish and had a really difficult time. I need to wipe that off before going on to the finishing polish, right? I must add, weather conditions were horrible, Central Pennsylvania and the humidity was in the tropical zone. I was in my garage though so the truck was cool to the touch.

When I watch the videos, he puts on 4 lines of product and I was not even putting on that much.

  3. I used the paint correcting polish and paint finishing polish today and got decent results. I'm using a Porter Cable DA polisher. My question is, I had difficulty removing the product. Does this mean I'm using too much? I'm really not sure about the whole "flashing" thing so maybe I'm not working the polish enough or maybe working it too long. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

  4. That kit is perfect Rick.  Call in your order and ask if they will swap out the white MF pad for a additional orange MF pad.  I would also suggest adding a 2nd orange foam pad and 2nd white foam pad.  These things take a day or so to dry (the white pads can take longer), so it is always advisable to have a spare.  I use at least 2 cutting pads per car.

The MF pads are a great way to add more cutting power to the PC.

Thanks Michael, I did exactly what you suggested. I can't wait to get started!

  5. I have a 95 F150 that is in really decent condition, was kept in a barn the last several years. The paint is ok however it has scratches from improper washing and some etching from hard water. I own a Porter Cable 7424 and had tried using other products in the past with disappointing results. My plans are to purchase the following:

Detail Spray & Clay Bar Combo

Pad & Polish Kit  (I want the 7" for the Porter Cable, right?)

Do I want to follow up with the paint sealant or the H2O Guard and Gloss?

My F150 is not a daily driver, it comes out on the weekends and may see some rain, but will not be driven in snow and salt.

A couple of other questions, I watched the videos and it gives speeds for the Cycle machine, but not for a Porter Cable, what speeds for the paint correcting and paint finishing?

Sorry for all the questions, but I want to make sure I buy the right stuff, I've already wasted a ton of money on other products that didn't work.

    Thanks for the help!

  6. I'm a novice when it comes to detailing, however it is something I really enjoy doing. I have a Porter Cable orbital polisher and I would really like to learn how to get my cars to really shine. I'm looking forward to trying some of your products.

I'm heading to Ford Nationals in Carlisle this weekend, hopefully I will see you guys there.
