  1. Poor little Miata! They always clean up well though. Tough little cars! Good job!
  2. This is the roof of my '02 Sierra Denali I recently purchased. I have a few smaller and less severe spots on the hood but otherwise the paint is in pretty good shape (or will be after I take my Flex to it). It looks like this is some pretty severe oxidation where the clearcoat and paint have been worn through. Is repainting the only option? Also, will normal (for us here) maintenance keep this from getting worse?
  3. I'd buy a keychain and a license plate frame (or two, or three).
  4. The APC and SVRT worked just fine. I guess I should've had more confidence but that plastic was quite a shock when I first saw them. I thought they were going to be a real challenge. Thanks.
  5. I'm getting ready to tackle this Sierra Denali that I just bought and one area I'm not real sure about is the black plastic door handle trim. I've never dealt with any this bad. Any suggestions?
  6. Looks like you might've found the Franziskaner on draft! I was going to suggest you hunt that down. It was a hot day in July (more than a few years ago) when we sat at an outdoor cafe in Berchtesgaden and I ordered a draft of Franziskaner Hefe-Weisse. That was soooo refreshing!
  7. I don't know for sure but my guess is that the Americana would not last very long in that environment. I would think a synthetic wax would provide longer lasting protection. And it would be more cost efficient. I'm anxious to hear what the pros have to say about this. And congrats on the boat ownership!
  8. What's your caffeine intake like?
  9. I know nothing about the price of detailing but that's an amazing amount of work for $160. They should've given you a $100 tip IMO! And that's why I have never detailed anyone else's vehicle for money. I doubt many would want to pay what I feel it is worth. That's an awesome job! And how anyone can drive a vehicle around looking like that is beyond me!
  10. Well, I wasn't aware there would be specials. That will probably work!
  11. I was considering it (but only a 1.5 hour drive). Do you get free samples or something for the $20 spectator fee? How about a T-shirt if you mention the forum and your forum ID?
  12. Yep. Here in central Indiana also. Perfect detailing day: mid 80s, humidity not bad, mostly overcast skies, light breeze. Can't get much better. Just finished all the polishing and now an overnight sealant cure before finishing it off tomorrow morning after the F1 race.
  13. Great stuff! I love looking at old pics. Been doing a lot of this lately with family pics that have been accumulating over the past 100 yrs or so and now scanned in. Really interesting finds.
  14. Ah, I work in nearby New Castle. I work in IT for the company that makes all the Civic seats for the Greensburg Honda plant.
  15. Welcome and happy birthday! What town do you live near? Can we have a detail party in your barn? Looks plenty big enough for good number of people!
  16. These pics are making me even more anxious for my black '02 Sierra Denali to be delivered. Its an Ebay purchase and so based solely on pictures, thorough description and long discussion with the owner. It better be as good as it looks! I mean, I expect to have to do a complete detail with paint correction likely but there better not be anything Adams and a Flex can't fix!
  17. I added a typical water softener to my well supply and it greatly improved my washes. Practically no more water spots! Of course, a lot depends on the supply in your area. Your water might not need softening or anything. You might want to get a water test done to determine the makeup of your water. Wether it is acidic, alkaline, etc. and go from there. Most places that sell water softeners will do a test for you for free if you take a sample in to them.
  18. It is difficult to get good work done these days regardless of reputation or how much you pay. Trying to find a true professional that gives a crap about their work is just about hopeless. I don't get it!
  19. My son was there a while back and said the beers were awesome! Wish I could've been with him!
  20. Not kidding! But I do only go through the touchless wash then go home and apply finishing touches such as wheels and clay bar the bug guts off the front end. Reason: I live off a well and I'm starting to get concerned about it going dry. I've heard some are in my area. I'd hate for the water to stop and then my wife remind me of how I used all that water to wash the car.
