  1.  And finally, if the finishing polish and white pad removed scratches and swirls but left it's own damage (keep in find no matter how fine or jeweled the polish, it's still abrasive to some degree) either in th form of hazing, pad swirls, or just doesn't break down enough to remove all imperfections, this would be soft paint. It requires the move to most likely a pad with even less cut than the white or a change in technique.

Soft black paint is very hard to finish without micro-marring. I can get it close, but most of the time there's still faint micro-marring. May not even be the polish, it could also be micro-marring as a result of the MF towel(even high quality ones). I'm pretty experienced when it comes to polishing, but being able to finish soft black paint is very difficult!

  2. Many thanks for the info - and glad to know - because the car is about 15 days away from delivery.

I'm going to try and take the advice offered about getting the dealer to hose the car down and then see what I need to do from there. Lets see if the dealer pays any attention....

Got some practice in today working on our 2013 Ford Kuga. two bucket washed, clayed, Adam's paint sealed and buttery waxed (superseded compound) using the Adams nifty applicators (I'm a fan). All up about 8 hours work from filling the rinse bucket to cleaning up.

Sweet car, love the new Mustangs! See too many non-V8's rolling around, though. Great you got the GT! What color is it?

On the other hand, Honda or Toyota black paint is a b*tch to finish without haze!! Be glad you're not working with that!

  3. With essence you don't have to do an eraser wipe down prior to coating...so you can just wipe off the polish and go straight to the coating. That's all I was wondering about.

I find there's too much polishing oils left behind to go straight to coating with Adam's FP. I might need to lessen the amount of polish I'm using. Coating prep wipe down would be good. Anyhow, this product finishes very well(with the right pad) on soft black paint.

  4. Good reply and thanks for the boost of confidence. i grabbed a bottle to try and haven't use it yet. I need something that was juuuuust the right touch of agreesiveness to do my annual spring cleaning on a car that's meticulously maintained all year anyways, and it seemed this product would fit the bill.

    No problem!

The cut is light. If you use a finishing pad and it's not doing it for ya, switch to a polishing pad and you should be good to go.

  5. When it comes to medium to hard paint, there's many finishing polishes that can get the job done with ease. Soft black paint is a whole different ball game, and that's where Adam's excels. I've experimented with many and I like Adam's the best. While working on black honda paint, when I couldn't get anything to finish without haze, Adam's came through for me. It's the same idea as CarPro Essence(infused with SiO2), but I find Adam's to be less finicky. Does it have *durable* fillers like Essence? I don't know, but after a paint prep wipedown, it still looked great!!! Please don't change the formula, at least for a while! :)

  6. I ordered some foam pads and they sent me the wrong size in orange(2 pads). I called and expected to send back the wrong size ones, but they told me to keep them and will send out the correct size today!

    Awesome, thank you!

I was supposed to receive 5.5", but they sent me 6" instead. Going to try the 6" on the Flex 3401!

5.5" will be used on my 15mm DA.

  7. I ordered two of blue, orange and white. I really like the "waffle" pattern, as it will allow the pad to contour better on concave and convex surfaces. Might keep the pads a bit cooler as well. Also, Adam's trimmed down the height of the pad which should help with rotation. If I like how they work, I will be buying more. I prefer to have 4-6 of each color.

  8. Nope, sorry Mark. You've read wrong.

Adam's Leather & Interior Cleaner is a pretty strong alkaline cleaner coming in around 9 or 10 on the ph scale.

Oh, and welcome to the forum!

    Thanks!

That's actually not tooooo strong. I think they changed the formula. I'm positive Dylan said it was either acidic or highly alkaline a while back.
