Portable carport recommendation
astro-jason replied to slalom38's question in Paint Correction & Polishing
I got a 10x20 from sam's club. It takes 2 people to set it up, but it covers the whole vehicle. I stake it to the ground on one end and tie it to the garage door opening on the other, works good. -Jason -
Been there tried that, when I had my 05 TJ. The only thing you can really do is cover the scratches. The best thing I found was plexus, it shades the scratches so thay arent as visible. It also depends on how old the top is also. I finally bought a new top and kept my old windows for off road adventures, leaving the new ones at home. -Jason

Tire Shine sling
astro-jason replied to Ls1transam's question in General Detailing Discussion and Questions
When I apply tire shine or vrt, I stop at the line on the tire where the tread meets the sidewall. I don't see the need on street tires to shine the edge of the tread. Now all terrain or mud tires that's a different story. -Jason -
Clarification needed: Fresh Paint
astro-jason replied to chops1sc's question in General Detailing Discussion and Questions
That depends on what products the body shop used and if they baked it or not. I would call them up and get instructions from them, so you don't void any warranty offered with the work performed. Other than that 30 days should be sufficient in warm weather. -Jason -
I have a vinyl cover on my truck. I've tried the diluted VRT, but it does run down the sides when it rains. I just use H20 G&G "dry application method" and detail spray. Keeps it clean with the matte finish. -Jason

Toyota White Paint and Coating
astro-jason replied to Mariner's question in Exterior Protection & Enhancement
I have a 2016 Super white Toyota Tundra also. I strip washed, clayed with waterless wash, polished with my Swirl Killer "santa got it for me" using a black pad form the other guy's, then applied Adams liquid paint sealant with a red pad from the other guy's. I didn't have any paint transfer. I really don't think you have anything to worry about, I used medium pressure when buffing. I've done a couple of other white toyota models also and havent noticed any transfer on those either. -Jason -
Windshield Wipers
astro-jason replied to scottkalbfeld's question in General Detailing Discussion and Questions
Bosch, get mine from Rock Auto, cheaper than everybody. -Jason -
Also on a episode of Bitchin Rides, When Kevin locks the one guy in the trunk of the car, he was squirting him through the back seat access with Adams detail spray. -Jason

Cleaning Jeep soft top windows
astro-jason replied to ragin_cajuns's question in General Detailing Discussion and Questions
Distilled water and a few drops of Johnson's baby shampoo to clean and Plexus to polish. Make sure you clean and polish them before you remove them and roll them to put the top down, that will help keep the scratches to a minimum. -Jason -
use to be a fan of H2O GG
astro-jason replied to wely324's topic in Product Polls, Feedback, and Company Input
I dont soak my towels and I dont wash them right away, I wash my towels once every two weeks. I use the powder type PERSIL detergent cold water and hang dry. Just as soft as the day i bought them, they are grey in color from the H20, but no issues. -Jason -
H2O G&G on RV?
astro-jason replied to 53flattie's question in General Detailing Discussion and Questions
Regular wash, dry with H2O G&G then regular washing with the W&W should do the trick. -Jason -
My brief observation on new Wash and Wax
astro-jason replied to marquez93's question in Washing, Drying, and Decontamination
THIS^^^^^^^ is very true. I used the W&W yesterday drying was super easy, the water on the painted parts did sheet and left no spots, I dried the glass and no spots or streaking. Then about 5 hrs later it started raining and the water still beads just like before washing. So it works as intended no stripping of the H2O G&G. That just means I'll have to buy more of the W&W. -Jason -
Spilled deep wheel cleaner in my bag
astro-jason replied to Laid GP's question in General Detailing Discussion and Questions
Try spraying it with the garden hose until there are no more suds or evidence of the wheel cleaner. Then take some laundry detergent preferably the liquid type, put about 3oz to a spray bottle of water, spray it inside and out, scrub a little then rinse and dry. Should be good to go. -Jason -
H2O G&G on RV?
astro-jason replied to 53flattie's question in General Detailing Discussion and Questions
Yes it works, I use it on mine about every 4 months, cant wait to use the wash and wax with it. -Jason -
Pole mounted wash pad
astro-jason replied to DCRANER's topic in Product Polls, Feedback, and Company Input
I use this in combination with the 10" wash pad. I split the seam on the wash pad and insert the wash mop inside of it holds tight and doesn't come off. -
Good deal, glad she's happy and congrats on the good uncle point's. -Jason

Looks awesome, if you put VRT on the tires please remove it the centrifugal force will push it out on to the tire tread and make it slick, seen it done before not a good outcome. -Jason

I clean the seats with diluted cleaner then wipe with warm water and let it sit in the sun, helps soften the leather. Then rub in the conditioner by hand usually 3 applications will do the trick. The stuff is the bomb for leather. -Jason

So what does everyone do for a living?
astro-jason replied to Cwilliams's question in General Detailing Discussion and Questions
Trust me I would if i could, It's all proprietary information at this point after EFT- 1. Lots of export compliance happening. The best way to keep up is space.com or spaceflightnow.com. -Jason -

This. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Orion_(spacecraft)#Crew_module_.28CM.29 http://www.space.com/31855-nasa-orion-capsule-arrives-ksc.html All I can say is its an awesome job. I also worked on the shuttle fleet good times. Jason -
I've found that with certain products as a base coat other than Adams, will give a streaking finish. Try a strip wash and then give the H2O a try. I think it will work a lot better for you. -Jason

Old Deep Wheel Cleaner on tough water spots??
astro-jason replied to ramflava's question in General Detailing Discussion and Questions
I've had good luck using the etching type wheel cleaner on tough water spots just don't let it sit too long and rinse thoroughly. Then polish and wax. It takes practice but it works. I remember years ago using a product from kar kem called fallout remover that stuff works really well too. -Jason
