I would do a strip wash, foam cannon and clay to be sure you don’t have any old sealants or waxes on the finish. Clay is not needed all the time but is good if the paint is rough to the touch and you are getting ready to do a paint correction. You can do another strip wash after polishing but that’s up to you. Coating prep works just fine! As for pressure, Adam states in his videos that he used the weight of the machine and his hand and that is all. As you get more comfortable you will find a position/weight that is comfortable for you. I personally use more or less pressure depending on what polish/pad I am using. A little more for really bad swirls and less for finishing polish. But like I mentioned usually the weight of the machine is enough

Correcting Polish Tough to Remove?
Wy_detailing replied to Chevydude's question in General Detailing Discussion and Questions
I had an issue with not polishing with correcting polish for long enough. It has a deminishing abrasive in it to break down as you polish, the more you polish, the more it shines. If you polish to quickly there is a buildup of the polish on the panel, so be sure to work the panel to break down those deminishing abbrassives. It makes the residue easier to remove and the paint look even better! -

Glaze and Americana on a Classic Car - Durability
Wy_detailing replied to ggrrrrrr's question in Exterior Protection & Enhancement
Nope, the wax will not wash away at all! The glaze adds extra shine and can be applied above or below the wax but does not affect the durability- 5 replies

Cleaning Swirl Killer Pads
Wy_detailing replied to Mbrazelton's question in Paint Correction & Polishing
I clean then with warm water and eco APC. I spray some eco APC into a bucket with some water and let them sit, then rinse them under warm water. If some stuff doesn’t come out I get a hose with a straight stream and blast out anything left. I prefer to wash them ASAP to prevent the compound from drying to much. For microfiber pads I use a medium bristle brush to scrub them out as well -

glass sealant questions?
Wy_detailing replied to tonymix17's question in Exterior Protection & Enhancement
1. I usually get a few months out of glass sealant alone here in Oregon, where it rains 3/4 of the year. It lasts even longer if I add glass boost when needed 2. Yes it is SOOO much better than rainx, no competition adams is much better. 3. I found that the glass sealant repels water off glass easier and faster than the guard and gloss does. I don’t do my windows with guard and gloss anymore I only use the glass sealant and boost as I found it works much better. 4. I would say get the boost. It takes the sealant from an application every 2-3 months to going 2-3 months, soray some boost on and go another couple months. I usually do the glass sealant 2 times a year. The kit is well worth it. I no longer use my wipers and it makes cleaning the windshield super easy as well! -
New Car Plan of Action (Newbie)
Wy_detailing replied to nvk's question in General Detailing Discussion and Questions
I think your order is dead on. Strip wash the car, clay, polish if needed and then seal, glaze and wax in that order. The buttery wax is the shortest lasting wax adams has so maybe picking up some Americana wax might not be a bad idea. Start with your sealant, this allows the sealant to bind to the “naked” paint and gives us the best protrction. Follow that with the glaze to add shine and finish with a wax to lock everything in and add even more shine. I would say that wax is necessary for a daily driver though, you want to give as much protection as you can. It will degrade after as it is being driven daily but to want to have as much protection as you can. I prefer to add the glaze after sealant and before the wax to “lock in” the level of shine you get from the sealant and glaze, rather than after the waxing stage. The other option to look into is a ceramic coating. These usually last 1-2 years and require no wax, glaze or sealant and provides superior water beading as well as ease in cleaning -

Soap soap? -
I would recommend the Americana ($50) or Patriot wax ($100) to get more shine and longer lasting protection. Both amazing waxes with a great finish ????

I would only use boost every 3 months or so. The coating should only need to have boost applied about every 3 months or so I believe. Any more you get buildup and you won’t get any more shine/gloss
