  1. You will get mixed opinions, but DS should be ok, the reason that is, is because DS has a very very small amount of carnuba in it, making it a wax booster. H20 guard is a sealant, that lasts 3-4 months, so I wouldn’t use that. Matte detailer is meant for matte finishes, so unless you had a matte finish, stripes, etc. you don’t need to use it, but it should be ok on a coating because it has no wax booster. Is the challenger matte? Where are you looking to use matte detailer?

  2. Damn Nathan take it easy on the sheep. I'm wondering since you didn't mention it, after your done using your mitt do you let it drip dry or do you wring it out, in my opinion you should wring it out and pull it out of the bucket so it can dry faster. Because the moisture can loosen the fibers. Let me know?

    I wring it out.

Hey Nathan, sorry Ryan is out this week on his honeymoon.

We have had a few of the Merino Wool Mitts begin to fail like this, so it seems like it might be a small batch that had manufacturing issues. If you send an email to orders@adamspolishes.com, we'll get you taken care of.

Since this is the second mitt that has given you this problem, I would probably recommend switching over to our Red Wash Mitt or the Microfiber Wash Sponge. I personally use and prefer them more over the merino mitt, but that is just my personal preference. Both are easier to clean out and maintain in my opinion.

Awesome. I’ll send an email to you at dan@adams. I won’t be switching to the sponge but I might switch to the red mitt. I do really like the merino mitt though, one of my favorite products. Nice to know that I’m not the only one though.
  3. If you want a nice matte factory finish with some protection then use the total interior detailer. If you want a deep nice looking interior use the leather conditioner, it will leave lots of protection, especially on leather.

Maintain with total interior detailer, leather and interior cleaner will strip any leather conditioner.

  4. Weekly Wash and Detail - 2016 Charger Hellcat

Looking for a solution to keep the rotors from rusting. Seems to happen when I hit them with the Sidekick after a full decon with the Wheel Cleaner. It seams the heat combined with the raw metal are perfect combo for the thin coat of rust. Any solutions...............attachicon.gifDSC_0468.JPGattachicon.gifDSC_0463.JPGattachicon.gifDSC_0470.JPGattachicon.gifDSC_0465 white out.jpg

    I need a Hellcat! Now...how do I get one... :(
  5. This has happened to me once before, and I am not sure what I’m doing wrong. The mitt has been used about 10 times, I clean via spraying it on the grit guard, and letting dry in the bucket, I don’t snag on the emblems, well maybe once, but I didn’t see any damage after. I only touch the mitt with a hose, no pressure washer, I pump soap on it and spray to make suds like normal, what is going wrong! I send an email to Ryan a while back and got a new one. Already sent an email to Ryan but I got an auto response that he won’t be back until the 11th. Anyone else having this issue?

  6. I think we'd all like to see pics of the experiment, Nathan. But keep in mind, that's 2 bottles of soap in one go if using the premium size FG. :o

I go big or go home and buy the gallon of car shampoo!

good to know you use 2-3oz on customer cars. I'm trying to open up a car detailing business. Curious on what you charge for a basic wash and what's included as well as a mini detail if you don't mind me asking.

Most of my customers cars are not in perfect condition, so I don’t need to use tons of foam, 2-3 oz is usually enough to be plenty safe, while also having enough foam on the car so it won’t drip off. I would definitely check your area, but I currently charge $25-30 depending on how dirty it is and what size. A wash includes a safe wash, wheels, tires, wheel wells, tires dressed, and if they have nice exhaust tips I clean those too. On all my details I clean both sides of the glass, no point of having an interior detail and having the inside glass clean, when the outside glass is dirty.

Not sure what you mean by mini detail, but if I am doing a wash n seal or wash n wax I will wash all the outside, do all the glass, ALWAYS do the door jams, and then seal or wax the paint, dress tires. It’s all in the details.

A little tip if you have to do rinseless or waterless then use a 2 or 3 gallon sprayer filled with water so you can clean the wheels and tires. Using APC instead of wheel cleaner and tire and rubber cleaner save a lot of money because most cars don’t need those strong chemicals.

  7. How long after something has been painted before one should strip wash, clay, polish, seal, and wax?

Fresh out of the factory paint is baked on so you can do whatever you want right away. From the body shop or a repaint I'd wait 90 days before doing anything besides normal washing. I do think using the brilliant glaze is okay, maybe someone else can chime in, though, it has no protection.

  8. Plenty of posts here regarding the use of Brilliant Glaze on matte stripes, the solvents it contains (theoretically) clean the matte vinyl and give it an even and deep black look.  And as I said it worked fantastic on the matte black stripes on my Charger.  There's even an "official" video from Dylan back when he was still on the payroll where he recommends the practice.

I'm wiling to try APC, and I saw another post here suggesting Ceramic Boost for this situation.....

In the video he used brilliant glaze to clean, not to dress the stripes. I would recommend cleaning the stripes with revive hand polish, APC or brilliant glaze to remove the hazing and then dressing with VRT or matte detailer.
