  1. Well, it looks like the fourth time is the charm. It's taken me 3 more scrubbings ON TOP of the initial one I did to get to some level of "bare" black. You can see the progress photos from after first application today (2nd overall), after second, and finally after the third consecutive application (fourth overall). Hoping I don't have to go to this event again after today....

Bought a new tire brush, too. $5 dish washing brush at the grocery store. I'm sure Adams tire brush is great, but I don't know if I can justify $15 for it...

    Thanks everyone for the suggestions!

Sometimes it will take multiple applications in the same wash to get the desired effect.

We typically apply, scrub with a firm bristle brush and rinse. We repeat this until we start getting white or near white foam out of it. That’s when you know you’re no longer pulling contamination from the rubber.

New tires sometimes take a while, but old non-maintained tires always take time. Tire & Rubber Cleaner typically is not a single application at a time product. Keep going and it’ll get better.

Highly recommend the Adam's tire brush. I wasn't using it early on and once I swapped, wow! And like Shane said, it can take a few passes. Then get some VRT or, for longer lasting protection you can still knock down the shine if wanted, Tire Shine.

Thanks guys. Maybe today I'll take a couple more passes with it. The odd thing is that before I got the Tire & Rubber cleaner, I was just using APC...and it didn't look nearly this bad.

  3. Been using the tire and rubber cleaner for my last 3 washes, with 2 week and then 1 week interval between washes. Dressing with what's left of a bottle of Griot's version of VRT. I noticed after about a week of driving, my tires were looking a bit more dated than I would expect and showing a few brown spots. Used the T&R cleaner on a wet tire and brushed with the wheel brush (didn't have a firmer bristle brush). Tires looked..."okay."

Fast forward to yesterday's wash. Found a firmer bristle brush (basically a scrub brush like you would use to scour a floor). Same deal - wet tire, T&R cleaner, scrub. Rinse. This time my tires are noticeably MORE brown AFTER cleaning. I can see traces of brush marks in the brown...it almost looks as if the T&R cleaner MADE the brown stains. Seems like I'm getting the opposite results of what I should be seeing. Has anyone has issues with this?

Will post pics in a few minutes....

Yes, the Boost is a dry application product. For comparison, the Ceramic Boost is a silica-based product. PS is an acrylic polymer (HGG is also an acrylic product). Compared to PS, Ceramic Boost will not last near as long. Think several months, max, for the boost, compared to at least 6 months for PS. So yes, first apply PS as the base, then you can use the Boost as a maintenance product, if you so choose.

Thanks for the info. Love being able to get real advice on how to use these products!

Hey David, when you reach 50 posts on the forum,  you'll be able to post in the Garage Sale section.  Hit me up when you get there, I'll swap you for your bottle of CB;)

ZMAN, if I ever hit 50 I may hit you up for a trade, too. Not sure if I'll ever go for coating my car unless I buy a brand new DD off the lot.

  6. I've got a PC 8424XP. Plan on getting the one-step polish with pads. I see it's sold as a kit with 6.5" pads, or I can purchase the one-step with the same set of 5.5" pads for about the same price. Which is the preferred size for use with a 5" backing plate? I'm thinking the 6.5" pads might be TOO large...?

It can be used as a standalone sealant, offering several months protection. Just beware it's not meant to be used on glass, unlike (my preference of the two) HGG.

So if I was to use it in place of the HGG, I see it's a typical dry application: spray, wipe, wipe. Where does it stand compared to LPS? I'm assuming it would be preferable to layer on top of the LPS, once I eventually go that route?

I switched to a Tolco sprayer, like the one on the Adam's 32 oz. Premium Bottle, and it atomizes the G&G much better, allowing for a more even spray over the area.  Like the others, I use about 2 sprays per panel, but on yours you may need to break it up in more sections.

2 sprays per panel? No wonder my bottle is already almost half empty...

  9. How much G&G are you supposed to apply? I've got a Yukon XL (read: LOTS of surface area) and I apply as directed onto a wet surface before wiping with a damp/wet microfiber cloth and then buff with a dry. What I notice is that after applying and wiping in a few spots, my wet towel is soaked as expected. But when I go to wring it out, it's LOADED with G&G. So much so that I can see it oozing out like cream from between my fingers.

Anyone else notice this? Am I using too much? Should I be wringing this out over the vehicle surface to apply again?

Awesome truck,  I really like that grill over the all chrome option.

Wait til you hit that bright white with Guard n Gloss,  you will be blown away.

I also do all hard and leather ineterior surfaces with Leather Conditioner,  every couple months, it makes it smell brand spanking new!

    heres mine...

Thanks. That's quite a nice rig yourself. The black looks perfect.
I'm actually pretty excited to scrub down the entire interior. Found quite a few areas that the dealer's "detailer" missed...have a feeling the car's never really had a full detailing, although the interior looks far from worn. Apparently it was owned by some big exec that trades in his car every year or 2 for a new one. It's even still got the protective cling film on the rear climate display and the 3rd row entertainment screen.

BTW, do you do anything specific for your chrome accents or just settle with whatever polish/sealant/wax/glaze that gets on there?

  12. Hi everyone-

Well, I finally bit the bullet and bought my first load of Adam's Polishes products. Picked up a Daily Driver kit and a Mystery Bucket. I've considered it for a long time, but after the wife and I recently bought a 2016 GMC Yukon XL I decided it was time. Very excited to start using the products, I think it was the daily driver kit instructional vid that really made me take the plunge. I always wanted to get some products but my orders always came out over $300, so having a kit for less than $150 that was geared towards the "real-world driver" was a HUGE selling point.

Looking forward to learning any tips and tricks to keeping my cars looking clean and trim!
