How much WW solution do I need to spray onto the paint, I am thinking I need to really coat the paint so when I wipe it off it doesn't scratch?

The website says to "Spray a fine mist on the panel".

I did a test and I can see a lot of dust/dirt on the towel and am like how am I NOT scratching the surface lol.

In the video, at around 1:55 mark, Adam says "before he jumps in and starts using the spray and wipe, he does everything he can to reduce the big particles of dirt on the finish". The video goes on to say what all he does. You may want to check it out.

I also remember in a different video with a different product, he said if the bottom of the truck is extremely muddy or dirty, you may need to rinse it off. I know that defeats the purpose of waterless wash, but large particles of dirt will scratch the paint for sure.

I apologize as I've not used this product yet but I will be in about a week. So I've been studying a lot myself.

  2. @Nickfire20  You were right!!!

I used a whole bottle of Iron Remover on the car and there was more than I imagined.

    This is the Hood:

    This is the Trunk:

    IMG_0404.thumb.jpeg.dd1bfd90271002b606c94d56e058a5a6.jpeg

I had a piece of a bottle of Wheel Cleaner and just enough for all four wheels.

Then I rinsed and dried the entire car.

I then used the Adam's White Fine Grade Clay Bar with DS and clayed the complete car. Crap, I just remembered I forgot to clay the wheels. Maybe next time.

I put maybe 3 ounces of Car Shampoo and 3 ounces of Eco All Purpose Cleaner in the Foam Cannon and the Wash Bucket.

I foamed the entire car, there was a lot of foam. And I used the mit and washed the entire car and then rinsed with the power washer.

I used the leaf blower I purchased for the sole purpose of drying the car and dried the car. There wasn't enough left to towel dry but I drug it over everything anyway.

It is now parked in the garage while this old man rests and it cools down as the sun was hitting the trunk and back window.

    Still left to do:

    Apply the Surface Prep spray.

Apply the Ceramic Spray Coating. and let it cure overnight.

Get up in the morning and apply the Ceramic Boost and Tire Shine.

I have to say, it looks pretty good so far.

Here is a picture of the hood during the rinse after washing. Not much beading of water on the hood:

  3. Dan,

I read through the entire thread today. It was awesome to read and learn how to do it. I am newly retired and decided keeping my car clean and nice would be my hobby. I will revert to this thread a lot. Thanks so much for the details and the ideas.

I noticed there isn't anything about Interior Detailing (except removing the scratches from the cluster and the use of Leather Conditioner. A detailed on how you go about detailing the Interior would be awesome.

    Thanks again.

P.S. I tapped out on the Likes for the day. It wouldn't let me add anymore. Ha ha.

Those are Kwazar 32oz spray bottles.  I don't recall where I bought them, and I have since switched to the Tolco sprayers.

If you're interested in them, I will make you a good deal.  I even have extra spray nozzles that I ordered directly from Kwazar in the UK.

Yes, I'm interested. What kind of money are you looking for?

Thanks for the reply Stephen, I am glad you found some of this information helpful.

Here are some links on Amazon for the parts I used for the undercarriage setup:

    Shepherd Hardware 6-inch Tri-Dolly

    Quick Fist Mini Clamp

I attached the quick fist to the dolly with a 1/4" SS bolt, fender washer and nylon lock nut.

    AR North America Underbody Lance

Just make sure this lance will fit your pressure washer gun as it has a male M22 connection. Some other manufacturers make these style lances so you may be able to find one that matches your gun.

Dan, sorry to be bringing old posts to life. But I saw the earlier picture and information but I didn't understand what the pressure washer gun part was. I like the idea and would like to see about making something like this myself.

To give your vinyl a nice shine, Leather Conditioner! It's safe to use not only on leather but also plastic and vinyl. Plus it'll make your car smell like new! Give it a try.

Per the description in the link provided:

"Adam's Leather Conditioner properly conditions all leather, vinyl and textured plastic interior surfaces, leaving them soft and supple. The final look has a beautiful   appearance that is satin, never slippery or shiny."

I thought he said he wanted a SHINE?

I'll take that "little" chunk of beef off your hands!

Ha Ha, I thought it was Lamb. The meat pole is the same thing they use in the Middle East for Shawarma's. They are either Lamb or Chicken. I've not seen its use in Mexico.

I guess 18 years working in the Middle East was too much!!!

What I understood for that is that Car Shampoo is just a PH neutral cleaning shampoo. Meaning no protection added to this shampoo. Other shampoos like Wash and Was have protection built in, which may add to the protection of your ceramic coating.

    Otherwise, safe on Ceramic Coating.

Not saying it is BAD but aren't they all PH neutral? I thought he said, the Mega Foam was better wash for a Ceramic coated car and not the Car Shampoo. That is why I just spent money on the BOGO and got a Mega Foam. I'll save the gallon and bottle of Car Shampoo for my second beater box I plan to pick up.

Thanks, I love this truck. Yellow is my favorite color and I searched and searched for a yellow Ram outfitted the way I wanted and with a proper box on it not the super short junk

Yellow is my favorite color as well. I had a Yellow 2015 Subaru Crosstrek and the 2015 RAM 1500. Then I got another Subaru but I could only find it in white. So I color changed wrapped it to yellow. I just traded it over the weekend. Wife says my Yellow days are over. I laughed at her!!!

I apologize for hijacking your post. I hope you can resolve the issue as that Mercedes looks great.

Sgt. if you're referring to what is the maintenance process during the duration of your coating, @RayS has provided very good info on how to do that depending on your which vehicle you are maintaining. Like he said, I do 2 bucket wash method, and use Ceramic Waterless Wash as a drying aid when I hand dry. Every 4-6 weeks, I apply Ceramic Boost.

If you were referring to what do you do when your coating duration is coming to an end? I plan on doing the full detail process again. Meaning I plan on strip washing, claying, decontaminating, polishing, and reapplying whichever protection I decide on (I can't see myself doing anything other than ceramic coating right now). This process would especially be important if you initially applied Ceramic Spray Coating, but you want to commit to the traditional Ceramic Paint/Wheel/Trim/Glass Coating. << The reason it's important to remove the existing Ceramic Spray Coating before applying the Ceramic Paint Coating is because the Ceramic Paint/Wheel/Trim/Glass Coating should always be the base coat ontop of your paint/wheels/trim/glass. After you have applied the traditional coatings and allowed them to cure, then you may follow with Ceramic Spray Coating on all surfaces as a topper (if desired, not necessary at all). The order should not be Ceramic Spray Coating > Ceramic Paint/Wheel/Trim/Glass Coating.

    Juan,

THANKS. That last paragraph was what I was looking for. I totally understand no one knows the longevity of the product. You answered my question. When its life appears to be over, you start all over again. I appreciate the assistance.

  11. 2 hours ago, RayS said:

Given that the CSC is so new, we are all going to learn about the different longevity characteristics.  I expect the garage queens to have a different lifecycle from the 24/7 outdoor daily driver.  The maintenance aspect will most likely also make a difference in the longevity.  Even for the vehicles that I've used Ceramic Paste Wax on, there has been a considerable difference in how long it lasted with the various maintenance routines and usage models.

This is also where the forum comes in so handy with everyone sharing the information they've gather, what they have tried and the outcome.

So the process is unknown regardless of the timing?

  12. 42 minutes ago, Yo-Yo Ma's Cousin said:

Ryan, yes that’s a true observation. But this is also where I believe that Ceramic Spray Coating comes in clutch. It’s so versatile- one product to ceramic coat every exterior surface. Yes the longevity is not as much as a traditional coating, but you avoid having to spend $200+ to gather coatings for glass, paint, wheels, and trim. It’s all in one bottle for $20-30, then get a bottle of boost for $20 to use every 4-6 weeks and a bottle of ceramic waterless wash to use as your drying aid ever to every other week. You end up spending like $50 as your investment instead of the aforementioned. this will give you a great 6ish month trial to see if they are for you, before you commit to the traditional coatings.

    Juan,

If you use Ceramic Spray Coating as you mention and lets say it lasts 6 months. What is the process after that? Do you have to start all over again as if the car has never been coated before? Do you just keep using the maintenance products or what?

Just got a new car and will be doing this within a week. Waiting for the Iron Remover to get here on the 14th. Then I'll get it all done.

Haven't read any reviews of it.  But both Wheel Cleaner & Tire & Rubber Cleaner cost more. I can't imagine Adam's would cannibal their sales with a better product that's cheaper. I could be wrong, but to me this is a middle ground product for people who don't want to use 2 products, so long as it works good enough. I'm not knocking the new product, I'll probably even buy a bottle to try it. But I just don't see it being as good as what I have.

Totally agree with you. I haven't priced it or read up on it yet myself. I have a bunch of other product to use that it will be awhile as I only have one car now to clean.
