  1. 2 thin coats of MSS is fine. I've done it for years. Others too. I'm not picking on you, but why do you folks feel compelled to be critical of the color combo. No where on this thread did I ask for an opinion. Didn't your mothers tell you that if you don't have anything nice to say. Don't say anything at all.
  2. No they are vinyl... And unfortunately, stupid me, didn't take any pics of the Kona Blue one. Sorry. And the other car is, I believe a 63 Grand Prix. Just happened to take pics tonight.
  3. Yes they are... We both had our doubts for about 5 mins. I thought I was going to strangle him out on the track. But something inside me said, "He didn't mean to do it." He messed up his car too. Chit happens for a reason. And I got a new paint job... He covered my entire costs to repair the damage. I know! Right... What the heck do they do to mess them up soooo bad soooo quick.
  4. That is sooooo true. Even my son does the same thing. ... you cringe when you see someone dry wipe their car at shows.
  5. I did too. Except some folks thought it made my stripes almost look they had purple on the edges. The red was blending with the blue. I took them off after I was wrecked racing at Summit Point. And repainted. Then I decided to go with the Shelby 50th anniversary color scheme of White with gold.
  6. Ya know... You make a great point. I'm not sure I'd replace the center red stripe, but... How about 1/4" White pinstripes down the outside and inside of the blue. It would break it up and add to the patriotic theme. Like I tried on my car with Red stripes...
  7. Just to clarify the color's are Race Red with Deep Impact Blue stripes. Some of the pics make the car look orange.
  8. Thanks... And yes it is. It is 1 of 8 in the color combo. And the only 1 in that color combo with a glass top.
  9. Haven't been around much lately, but that doesn't mean I haven't been detailing cars with Adams. Did a 2011 Kona Blue Shelby GT500 a month ago and just finished the 2013. Here are some pics of the 2013. Surprisingly it had a few bad swirls already. After a 2 bucket wash... (I apologize for the poor pics. I used my phone for some) Ready for claying and on the lift... Sweet interior with Recaro's Taped and ready to polish... Swirls... After a couple of passes of SHR and FMP and 2 coats of MSS. In and Out and SVRT on the trim. I have to be honest. The owner didn't want me to use Americana after the MSS. He requested I use Souveran Nuba paste. Personally I don't think it is any better than Americana. And I missed the Eucalyptus scent! But he paid me to do it... The next car to be detailed is in the reflection... And of course the self-portrait...
  10. Thanks Dylan... That's encouraging. The trim does look like stainless. Will use Glaze after...
  11. Very timely post. I was just introduced to this type of product. It wasn't opti 2. It was c-quartz. While I understand the car needs to be 100%. It is still intriguing to me to use on my wife's van. Something I don't wax often and don't care to think about it for a looooong time. Thanks for bringing it up. I found the thread very interesting.
  12. No I'm not sure. Would it make a difference? Also, I just have metal polish. When there was only one not two. It's blue... I'll give it a go.
  13. I'm starting a detail on a '67 Mustang GTA. Was restored 20 years ago. I'm assuming it's a single stage paint, but won't know till I start. So any tips on single stage are welcome. Here's some pre-washed pics. I'll post more in the appropriate area as I progress. But my question is about the chrome trim... It also has swirls. What, if anything can I do? Have never dealt with this type of issue. Bumper...
  14. If you got it. And love cars and have cars that cost millions each. Why not $2 mil garage? I say good for him.
  15. I'm kinda with you on this... I'd like to start on a beater and then do my Shelby. This guy's video's on youtube make it seem sooooo easy. Part 1 [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=57Hd9FO_Kew]Part 1 Color Sanding & Buffing - YouTube[/ame] Part 2 [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o7jOpRlXk2M]Part 2 Color sanding and Buffing - YouTube[/ame] Part 3 [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QsYkMSjZb08&feature=plcp]Part 3 Color Sanding & Buffing - YouTube[/ame]
  16. Not necessarily. It is in most new cars and can be corrected via color sanding. You just need the chutzpah to do it.
  17. Welcome Cody! There was something on the table that wasn't Adams?
