  1. Welcome!! Look forward to seeing those pics!
  2. The only time I would wash would be after the polishing to be sure the oils are removed before machine super sealant, but even then I don't wash, but just do a wipe down with IPA or use revive polish.
  3. What type of stains are they? Have you tried the Carpet and Upholstery Cleaner? Be sure to post up some pics, this can help too!
  4. I agree with what Brendon recommended above for the mic and pop screen. The Shure 58 series is and has been a great reliable workhorse for vocals for many years, not considered a studio grade mic but for someone starting out it is a good durable and quality mic. In addition to the mic and pop screen he will also need a mic stand in order to utilize the pop screen. The interface between the analog mic and the digital computer will have a BIG impact on the quality and sound of the recording.
  5. I had a salt system for a couple years before I sold the house. If/when I get a pool again will definitely use the salt based system again. When the salt level was set properly the salt taste was barely noticeable and we had the exact opposite experience that Brendon had, did not feel the water dried our skin out but rather that our skin didn't get as irritated as it did before. My daughters had a tendency towards skin problems and with the standard chlorine system parts of their skin would get red but wouldn't be red with the salt based system. Salt based system costs $ to install, but for me found the ROI was roughly three years.
  6. I would be looking at marine specific products, they are designed for a different set of environmental parameters. From my limited perspective the sealants would be preferred over a wax for longevity. Also corrosion inhibitor characteristics are different, especially in a salt water environment. Marine supply stores stock different types of products than what is found in automotive supply houses.
  7. If your car has a harder clear coat I would definitely start with the Flex. If I recall another post of yours, you have a BMW. I haven't worked on an M3 but believe they have a fairly hard clear coat. The PC and Flex and similar machines but the nuances in technique between the two is quite different. There is a general consensus that everyone should start with the PC7424XP and "graduate" to the Flex 3401VRG. I don't agree with that viewpoint. I started with the PC7424XP and now have both machines. They each fit a need. (My PC7424XP is now finding it is become a dedicated 4" focus pad machine) Sure the PC7424XP can be used to to a full paint correction but it is so much slower and I really don't want to spend 2 to 3 times as long to get the job done on a typical car. The only thing that I can really say that I like about having used the PC7424XP first is that it makes me appreciate the Flex3401VRG so much more! Just take your time learning the tool, science and art form in polishing. Keep your pads flat against the paint, avoid any edges, avoid working in full sun and you will love the Flex3401VRG.
  8. Here is a little example that I had recently of exhaust tip cleaning http://www.adamsforums.com/forums/detailers-write-ups/17319.htm
  9. Just a couple miles off I-75 in the Tampa Bay area.
  10. Cool product! For large chrome areas... much needed! One more great Adam's product to have in the arsenal! Too bad it couldn't have been released during the 'light it up blue' autism campaign!
  11. Thanks for posting this! On our cars that have regular protection and cleanings the bugs come off relatively easy but will try this routine on some of the other cars I do.

    Red light cameras

Heehee! But what happens if there is a speed trap right after that?!?! I am trying to figure out what I would say to my wife as I drive her Vette through the red light at 170+MPH... But Honey I am trying to save money by not getting a traffic ticket from the red light camera... I think I would be in the dog house!
  13. We don't just need a small group of guys and a good location... I think we would need to help Adam's find a healthy mix of 2500+ customers in Florida in order to make this a reality... It sure would be nice to have a location with year round detailing weather, faster shipping to the southeast and seeing more Adam's shine on the roads!
  14. This will be quite the job! Mike said he has thousands of them... eek!! Wonder if alcohol on the Flex/PC with the new gray pad would help you cover the large areas and remove the polish from these crows feet? Sorry Mike, wish you were over this way and we could work to find a solution!
  15. We are not doing anything as big or intensive as most of you are doing here... I just installed this little piece to reduce the cabin wind in my wife's convertible and make it more enjoyable for her! It works GREAT! At 45-55mph with the windows down the cabin is fairly calm and we can easily carry on a conversation now or hear the radio without blasting it. Even at 75mph we can still have a conversation (but have to talk a little louder) and no longer feel fatigued from the constant wind buffeting like we used to feel. The wind can be felt blowing in under the wind restrictor (over the "waterfall") by our elbows but no longer is "pounding" our heads and ears. We love it! Took an hour and a half to watch the video, do the install and clean up. This model does NOT have the lighting, so I didn't have time invested in doing electrical work. And it can stay installed all the time, doesn't need to be taken off when the top is put up (like the typical windscreen products require)! The rear view mirror view is shown below, it doesn't cause much obstruction, just a line across the middle of the mirror and the "Corvette" lettering can barely be seen at the bottom of the mirror.
  16. I've seen a little of this in other colors... no answers from me yet.
  17. And I haven't even tried it yet! Looking forward to ordering this on my next restocking order in May!
  18. IMO it is a sad state of automotive design when the body designs are so like each other (bland) that we need to wear labels to let others know what we are driving. Though I haven't debadged our cars I have almost always admired the cars that are debadged (except for some that were just plain ugly, like Rich said). When debadged it seems to me that you can see the car and body lines for what they really are without having some pre-conceived idea based on who made it or what model it is.
  19. Was so happy when GM stopped putting those ugly chicklets on the vehicles!
  20. Great write up! Looks so much better!! Have removed dealer emblems and stickers over the years but never the mfg crap. Looking forward to trying this soon!
