  1. I like cats. I really do. Ever since I found out they taste just like chicken.
  2. Welcome to the real world gentleman. As Matt said, even if he wins in court, they will just appeal, and appeal again. Until he runs out of money. I've seen it happen before. That's why most lawyers are somewhere below used car salesmen and child molesters, on my list of human beings.
  3. Actually guys, a man named Jim Hall had a "automatic" race car in 1960 he called the Chaparral. The Chaparral transmission was actually a two-speed manual gearbox with a high performance lockup torque converter instead of a conventional clutch. So basically he just had Lo and High gear. If I remember correctly he only used lo to start and for low speed turns. The rest of the time he just left it in high.
  4. I live in a senior mobile home park when I'm in so. Calif. So a shed is out of the question. Not permitted. Also as I stated earlier renting and "indoor" garage around here would prohibitively expensive. Probably on the order of $150 month or more. That would be something like $1K a year, or more. I could get the truck repainted every 2-3 years for that. So my choices are. Cover it and hope for the best. Or take it back to Tenn with me every year. I'm thinking seriously about option #2.
  5. Yes Teresa, 60 MPH winds. Sometimes with gusts. I've seen 18 wheelers that were empty or lightly loaded blown over on their sides. It's not easy living in the desert. But somebody has to do it.
  6. I enjoyed it. Though I do think some of the questions could have used more options. Rich, you're being way to sensitive about your are.
  7. I go away for 6 months every year Rich. I'm a "snow-bird.":) The cover that was on it, was a $300+ (when I purchased it.) cover from Cal Car cover Co. Admittedly it was 3 or 4 years old and I forgot to use the single tie down. The wind just ripped it to shreds. When I replace it, think I'll ask Cal to put 3 tie downs on it. One under each bumper and one under the middle. Same thing happened to my room mates motor home about 4-5 years ago. Wind destroyed a $500 cover that was well tied down. When you have winds of 40-50-60 MPH for days on end, there's not much you can do. Renting a garage out here would be prohibitively expensive. My room mate paid $125 a month for his covered outdoor parking space. Sort of like a big carport for RV's, that was 5 years ago. If this was a show truck with a $10K paint job, I would consider it. But this is just a DD that I like to keep looking nice. Maybe next year I'll just take it to Tenn with me.

  9. When I got back to Calif from Tenn, this is what I found. My neighbor told me just a few weeks after I left there was a not to uncommon windstorm with winds in excess of 60 MPH. The wind tore the cover I had put on my truck right off. This is what my truck looked like after spending almost 6 months unprotected and exposed to the elements in the desert. My 89 y.o neighbor tried to help by putting the cover back on over the filthy truck. When the wind tore it off 2 more times. She gave up and just left it uncovered. It washed right off, but I ruined a clay bar trying to get the imbedded grit cleaned off just the tonneau cover. These are the before and after shots of the mirror and door handle. I used APC to clean them, then VRT to give them that really black matt finish. I think they look good. Here are some pics of the cleaned up dash and drivers door. Sorry I didn't think to take any before shots. These last 2 photos are the before of the drivers seat and carpet. I don't have any after shots yet because I haven't done them yet. It's been unusually warm for Oct. here since I got home. We have had triple digit temps since I arriver almost 2 weeks ago. We hit 109 last Friday. So my cleaning has been limited to a hr or so, early in the morning, if I wake up early enough. At this rate it will take me a month to get my baby back to where she was when I left in April. Stay tuned everyone. Lots and lots more photos to come as the cleanup progresses.
  10. Just curious. Would I be better off using APC on things like my vinyl dash and doors or Leather & Interior cleaner?
  11. The problem is all the "trendy" types will probably stand in line to buy it. Then the "me too" crowd will line up behind them. Those guys are geniuses at creating a market where none exists. :lolsmack:
  12. They say you can't teach an old dog new tricks. Well today this old dog learned a new trick. I purchased my truck 7 years ago. It was about 9-10 months old and had 22K miles on the clock at the time. I always thought I was fairly diligent about keeping it clean and shiny. It's a DD so I don't get to crazy about it though. Since day one, there was this little grain of rice size spot, on the passenger side airbag cover. Years of cleaning with products like Simple Green and Armor All, were of no help. That spot was still there. Today I went out there with my bottle of Leather and interior cleaner. I sprayed the spot and rubbed with a soft cloth. Nothing happened. So I got a little more aggressive with a soft bristle brush, as suggested of the back of the bottle. THE SPOT GOT BIGGER. It took me a few minutes to realize the "spot" was the only clean part on the dash. The rest of my "tan" dash was a sort of darkish tan. I honestly thought that was supposed to be the color. After about 30 mins of work, the air bag cover is a nice tan color. Problem is the rest of the dash looks like crap. Another problem, we have been unusually warm for this time of year. Right now it's 101 outside. Probably a deg or 2 warmer than that in my carport. So I called it a day. I'll hit it again in the morning before it's starts getting hot. This Leather and Interior Cleaner is great stuff. Like all of Adam's products.
  13. Being a big city boy myself Chris, I don't know if they were under fed or not. They seemed to be happy just grazing on my lawn. The only horses I saw growing up were the ones in western movies. You know, Trigger, Champion, etc. I do know the one with the black main is a VERY old horse. When the owner finally came to herd them back to where they belonged he told me that one was old. I don't remember his age though. Both however were very friendly. They weren't at all bothered by my taking their picture. After I did I went over and petted them both and they seemed to like that. Gatlinburg is in the foothills of the Smoky mtns in eastern Tenn. It's about 50 miles or so southeast of Knoxville. Spring City, where I live is on Watts Bar Lake. About 50 miles or so southwest of Knoxville. Hope that helps.

    My Uncle

To many to just pick 1. So how about these for starters. On the Road Again - Willie Nelson Born to Run - Bruce Springsteen Get Your Kicks, On Route 66 - Nat King Cole King of the Road - Roger Miller Midnight Train to Georgia - Gladys Knight & the Pips Take Me Home, Country Roads - John Denver Last but not least, 5 O'clock 500 - Alabama I could go on and on and on, but that wouldn't be fair. I've got 20-30-40 years experience on most of you kids.
  15. I understand completely Jeff. I grew up in NYC myself. Brooklyn, Queens and eventually L.I. when I got married. I saw the smoky mountains of eastern Tenn for the first time when I was 17. (1955) I promised myself then that someday I would retire there. It only took me 70 years to get here. :lolsmack: If you start saving (investing) now you could probably make it by 50-55.
  16. Spring City Tenn. Pop 2200. Six blocks long, 1 McDonnell's, (just opened 4 years ago) 1 Hardee's/Carl's Jr, and 2 traffic lights. They just installed the 2nd one this summer. Watts Bar Lake in the background. My new home, not huge at 1800 sq ft, but big enough for two 70+ year olds. I have 2.5 acres and am hoping to acquire the now empty lots on either side of me for a total of about 8 acres. The view from my front porch. (The biggest reason I bought the place.) Sunrise and sunset from my front porch. Woke up one morning to find these guys grazing on my front lawn. Someone had left the gate to the pasture open, about 1/4-1/2 mile away and they decided the grass on my lawn looked greener I guess. It's one of the things I love about the place. I never know what I'm going to see when I look out of my living room window. I've seen rabbits, squirrels and various other "critters" I can't yet identify running around my place. Earlier in the spring the bird house had a family of birds. Mom, dad and 3 chicks. Sorry, I don't know what kind. I'm a big city boy and the only birds I saw growing up were pigeons. I got myself a book and hopefully in a few years I'll be able to identify the various species. Next 3 photos are a doe and her 2 fawns. I was hoping they would get closer together so I could get a "family shot" but no luck. They're a bit fuzzy because I had to shoot the photo through my living room window. If I had opened the front door they would probably have bolted. Finally a day on the lake. I didn't catch a single fish. But as we use to say when I lived in New York and was a Mets fan. Wait till next year.

    Fall

Darn, I missed it by 2 weeks. Next year I think I'll make it May to Nov. in TN. The leaves were just starting when I left last Sunday.
  18. They look normal to me. Hard to tell from a photo though. Looks like they might be a tad white. In which case you might be a heat range to hot. Top right photo above after the norman plug. How many miles on them? Was she having any problems? Overheating, pinging?
  19. OK A.J. How does this sound for a plan? Since I heat my summer place in Tenn to 45-50 degrees when I'm not there in the winter to keep the pipes from freezing. And I don't A/C my Calif home in the summer when I'm not there, so it's possible the temps in that house could get to slightly above 95 degrees. I'll take all my stuff to Tenn and leave it there. Then I'll buy the Adam's "sampler kit." That will give me six 4 oz bottles. Maybe if I talk real nice to Ashley, she might be able to find me a few empty 4 oz bottles. ;) If she can't maybe I can find some 4 oz bottles at Wal-Mart or someplace like that. When I leave Tenn for Calif, I'll fill the 4 oz bottles with all my various Adam's products. I'm sure 4 oz will be more than enough to last me the 6 months I'm in Calif. If not there are several dealers and the Adam's warehouse within 90 mins or overnight shipment. What do you think? Good plan? Not? Did I miss anything? See, we Air Force paratroopers can think for ourselves. (With a little help from the Marines of course. )
  20. I only have ONE (1) car to care for. There is NO WAY I'm going to use 12 oz of products like MSW, FMCP, BCW, BSG, SHR, L & IC, VRT and Revive in a year. If I went really crazy I might use 1/3 to 1/2 a bottle in a year. At $20-25 a pop, I can't afford to throw away well over a $100 worth of product each year and replace them with fresh product. Remember also that this is a DD and not a show car. So I can live with a little less POP. I just want it to look good. I CAN see me using 12 oz or more of things like WCW, CWS, DS, APC and GWC. Carrying all of my Adam's products, plus my PC, cross country twice a year would just NOT be an option when I fly. Even when I drive, it means they would be in the bed of my truck for 6-7 days each way. (Being retired I travel at a VERY leisurely pace.) The bed of course is not climate controlled like the cab and could easily exceed 95 degrees for hours at a time each day. Now what? :help::help:
  21. . I can recommend it highly Teresa. BORED? All I can say is it's a good thing I'm retired. I don't have time to work. It took me 62 years to get here and I'm going to enjoy whatever additional time the good lord sees fit to give me. It's so nice to wake up in the morning and say to myself. "Let's see. What shall I do today? Play golf, go fishing, detail my truck or go to my daughters house and play with the grand kids. Or shall I just be real lazy and lay by the pool all day?" That's why I live in the southern Calif desert in the winter. Then go to Tenn for the summer.
  22. We're talking about over $100 worth of products. All the bottles are almost new with maybe an oz. or so used out of each. I'm retired and living on a fixed income. I can't afford to just toss that much away. The truck is a D/D so I can live with a little less shine/pop. I guess I could put them in the house. I don't A/C my desert home when I'm not there. So it prob reaches 92-93. I only heat my summer place in the winter to 45 or so to keep the pipes from freezing. Taking the stuff with me when I drive would work, but not very practical when I fly. Didn't think to take any before pics. However as I said the BW looked like a pudding or custard. The others looked "watery" with some thicker stuff lying in the bottom. Like it had separated. I shook them some and they seemed to be returning to original consistency. I'm thinking of taping each bottle to my PC, setting it to 3,000 or so and turning the PC on for 20-30 sec or so, and see what happens.
  23. I actually did something similar to #1 about 40 years ago. My wife and her best friend dragged me with them when they went shopping. Can't remember why. The 2 of them were pushing carts and I was just walking behind. Like many women they were "visiting" as they walked, paying little attention to their carts. As they walked down the isle with feminine products, they stopped to discuss the merits of one product. I put 2 GIANT size "feminine napkins" packages in each of their carts and quietly walked away. When they heard some giggling and saw what I had done they both turned a bright red. I slept on the couch for the next week. She never asked me to go shoping with her again.
  24. I'm a snow bird and split my time between my homes in Tenn and the southern Calif desert. Rather than haul my supplies 2K plus miles each way, every spring/fall. I've decided it would be easier to keep a supply of Adam's products in each house. My problem: I just returned to Calif after 6 mo in Tenn. I had bottles of SHR, BW, MSW, DS and Metal polish #1 & #2 sitting in my metal storage shed all summer. Temps here in the desert routinely get to 110+ and inside the shed are prob in excess of 140-150. The BW had changed from a liquid to a pudding like substance. The DS, SHR and MSW all looked on the watery side. The metal polishes seemed to have evaporated to the point where there is a thick substance with a clear liquid on top. The metal polish bottles were more than 1/2 full when I left. There is perhaps i/4" or so left in the bottles now. I gave all the bottles a good shake and they seem to be returning to their original state. Are these products still good? Or do I need to replace them? Should I give up on the idea of storing my products in the heat/cold (I left the waxes in the unheated garage in Tenn) and start carrying a detail bag with me? Thanks for the help.
