  1. That's just WRONG...you be illin'! You guys have to see my mom's car...it has to be the WORST car paint out there I am not kidding!!! The paint is so bad in the roof and the hood, truck when I wipe my finger across it there is a black residue on my finger. (the car is black) It looks like it has been in the junkyard for decades!! I sat there thinking hmm...maybe I can bring it back.
  2. I just cannot fathom a brand new car having a lot of swirls in it..but I guess a lot of them sit out for awhile before they go to the dealers as well as in the dealer lots. Then they have their cleaning crew out there cleaning the vehicles and drying them with sand paper (chamois) I went to look at a new Ford truck the other day and it had a Tuxedo Black metallic paint...and I thought I wonder how swirled up this paint really is. It would be a fabulous color with some machine polish and some wax!!
  3. Mine go down about 3/4 b but that is it...I thought all 5 gallon buckets were the same diameters. Well they either are extremely far away from the dirt on the bottom... or I find a new bucket...lol
  4. I ordered a few Adams grit guards and had bought a couple 5 gallon buckets from the hardware store. When I placed them in the buckets they did not go all the way to the bottom. Is this how they are made or did I get some funky 5 gallon buckets?
  5. Whoops I meant on the wash pad not on the compound pad. Sorry graveyard shifts are playing tricks on my mind!
  6. Could you just use detail spray since it is polish and not dirt?
  7. I just got home from working graveyard shift and on the freeway I was coming up on a nice Audi A6...as I was looking at it I thought that sure is a nice car and black to boot! Upon coming aside the car I noticed all the horrible swirls that were keeping that car from looking absolutely amazing. The owner looked oblivious to it just like I used to be about a month or so ago. If she only knew how beautiful her car could REALLY be.
  8. This might sound kind of silly, however I wonder how the master blaster would do with its heated air for this purpose??
  9. Now when you are talking strip wash...I used Dawn dish washing detergent to strip everything off instead (I had some Adam's soap on order at the time) before the claying. Would using the APC with Adam's soap be a better strip than Dawn? Also if you do use the APC combo...how hard would it be to flush all that out of the wash pads so you are not reintroducing it to your next wash?
  10. I just can't help it...now I don't look at cars the same anymore The first thing I look at is the paint condition now and start thinking hmm I wonder how many passes it would take to...
  11. I swear now that I have detailed a car for the first time....everywhere I go all I see is a sea of cars that need swirl remover! It is so bad that I even have my wife seeing the same thing since detailing her car, she would say oh that black paint job is in dire need! Do we all just have a sickness for detailing forever now??? :willy:
  12. I find myself looking at my wife's black paint constantly now that I detailed there paint. It makes me want to clean it nightly to keep the dirt from building up on it and keep it shiny longer. As far as the properties of detail spray compared to waterless wash...which one would leave a more wax like coating? Since both are a liquid...would it be better to use a waffle weave towel instead of a microfiber towel?
  13. Mook if you are going to delete any link I put in my previous post you might as well delete the post all together. Obviously Adam's does not make a gel coat product was why I mentioned the other product.
  14. Found this on a search: DeLorean FAQ Care & Feeding - Stainless Steel Body Maintenance No special care is needed in keeping the body looking beautiful. It is maintained about the same way you clean your stainless kitchen sink. Minor scratches and scuff marks are readily removed with a "Scotchbrite" pad by rubbing with the original grain of the panels. The only precaution is to minimize any rubbing across the grain of the panels as this may scuff them. The best advice to keep the stainless steel in good condition is to keep your DeLorean clean and avoid using metal abrasives when rubbing out scuff marks. The owners manual advises "Wash panels with warm water and low suds detergent. Stains of tar or grease may be removed with gasoline or white mineral spirits." How many auto manufacturers recommend using paint thinner to remove stubborn stains from the body? Larger/deeper scratches and severe abuse require the use of the original texturing jigs to get the grain correct. These are not difficult to come by and there are numerous service centers (especially the larger original dealerships) that have this expertise. The panels come easily off the car and are therefore easy to work with in the event of a dent. Minor dents can be readily removed by those skilled in working with stainless steel, but catastrophic crashes require panel replacement. Those skilled in working with stainless steel tell me that dents can often be removed with nothing but the proper application of heat. The stainless steel panels are not indestructible and some seemingly harmless acts may result in severe damage to the finish. Contrary to popular belief, SOS pads or steel wool damages the stainless steel. Steel wool leaves small metal particles (from the steel wool) embedded in the grain of the stainless steel which rusts -- giving the impression that the stainless steel is rusting. Also metal abrasives (SOS pads) act as reducing agents, chemically reacting with the outer oxidation layer of the stainless panels and destroying some of their stainless properties. Iron compounds in general react with the steel -- bleeding on your car or leaving a slice of bologne on your hood may cause persistent blemishes that are difficult or impossible to remove. Although very resistant to nitric acid, SS304 is not very resistant to phosphoric and some other acids. I advise against the bold area...bologne is expensive! LOL:lol:
  15. "You made a time machine...out of a DeLorean????
  16. Edit: Naming competitor's products not allowed. Where these products are specifically designed for gel coats with diminishing abrasives...I am sure Adam's products or most detailing products would also work.
  17. In the picture what is the polisher laying on?? It looked to me like a pad that you could use to put your knees on when polishing the sides of the car?...of course that was just a guess.
  18. I actually have a brand spanking new Milwaukee 5540 that I have not even tried using yet.
  19. The reason if because the Flex uses forced rotation where the PC is not...which is why it takes a lot less time.
  20. The kneeling pad looks great! I was thinking about using knee pads this weekend. Where are those pads at?
  21. I bought the PC and will be using it this weekend, I also bought the GG 3" polisher for trim and my motorcycle. I will probably get the 4" pads for the PC soon as well. Although the Flex might be quicker...like someone stated that you should not need to be using the polisher often with good washing technique. (two bucket wash) I am going to get proficient with the PC and maybe later don the road get the flex...maybe not.
  22. Great job on an amazing car!! That is why I love black...nothing looks better in that condition than black!!
