  1. I would think that if the soap bucket has a pink hue to it...there is plenty of soap in the bucket.
  2. Damn I missed it!!! I would have loved to attend!
  3. Although I have not tried either of them...just by application alone I would think the best bang for the buck would be the Super Sealant. Watching the videos for the quick sealant I would imagine a lot of the product would get wasted with overspray especially in the wind. That is my observation though
  4. IMO there is nothing that looks better than black when it is clean! Did you see the Junkman's videos too? He has a bunch of them...it will take you awhile to go through them and I recommend going through the technique videos several times. Look up junkman2008 on the forum them to the right click on all statistics and then on the left all threads by junkman2008. Good luck!
  5. I just use Dawn dishwashing soap when I do a wash to strip the wax off.
  6. I myself will hopefully have my new F150...and I cannot WAIT to get it detailed right especially since it is the tuxedo black!! That flake in the paint it going to GLEAM!! Honestly like the Junkman said in his videos....the only way you will hurt your paint with a PC is to basically drop it on the paint. It being a new car the best thing to do is learn the two bucket wash, followed by claying the car (if needed) and as others have said start with the Fine Machine Polish. Look up The Junkman on the forum (junkman2008) and watch his videos. He pretty much covers everything from washing, claying, buffing, and sealing your paint. Learn from the videos before starting on the car so you have some kind of reference to go by. Adam also has some videos of how to use each product. Some here on the forum don't use a machine and are very happy hand polishing their cars. Whichever you chose...post some pictures of before and after! to the sickness!
  7. Unfortunately that is what has happened to me so far on this board was the reason I mentioned it.
  8. Dylan, I really appreciate your reply and I do understand what you are saying. I also know that this is a really good forum from what I have seen so far and I really like the willingness to help and the information this site offers compared to other forums. Some forums do feel like ghost towns compared to this one which is why I like it so much. To me this forum is the way it should be..ringing with people talking about detailing cars which is what we all come here to do. From everything I have read and seen so far Adam's products speak for themselves and people have had great success with them. I for one do not currently have a lot of products from Adam's as of yet, however that is growing more and more. I have a competitors product that I am using and it is doing a very good job so far. That does not mean that I will not try Adam's products in the future and honestly that fact that I am here on the site would only help strengthen the possibility of purchasing more products. I would like to see some sort of compromise on the mentioning of a competitors product. If I am coming on the site to just further the sales of a particular product and have no other intention I can see where that would not be helpful to the board. Some people here of course do have other products they use in addition to Adam's products, like you have agreed, and it would be nice to at least be able to mention what that product is etc. If there is further discussion about that product mentioned it can always be take to a PM to answer any other questions. I know what you mean as to "where do you draw the line" and that is the difficult part. I am in no way trying to sway people from buying any products here, however like gencoupe3dot8 mentioned it would be nice to be able to discuss things in a more competitive fashion without the feeling of censorship. Again I really appreciate you coming on the thread to discuss this topic with us and hope that maybe there will be some kind of change as a result. I personally am looking forward to trying Adam's products as soon as the competitors product I am using has been used up. The reason is because of the videos I have seen and the support here in the forums and it's members, not to mention the customer support I have had so far, and pod course the results!! Regards, Rob
  9. Yep I am a member of other forums...I tend to gravitate to this one because I like the people and I am interested in the products. I just don't want my hand slapped if I mention another product from time to time.
  10. Here is where I have a problem...I had some good results using other products...mainly because I did not know about Adam's products before buying. I wanted to share my results with everyone not to try to sell the products I used but because I was proud of how my first detail turned out. The reason I did NOT post was because had I done that I could not name any products I used and frankly because they were not Adam's products I thought the thread would have been closed. The main reason I started posting here was to due to The Junkman...and watching his videos. After looking around I wanted to become active in the forums and start learning about Adam's products etc. There is just a little too much censorship here on this forum. Like another poster stated Adam's products speak for themselves and they work just as good if not better than their competitors. I think regardless of any links or mentioning of other products, people are going to use what they know and what they feel works for them. I am slowly building my supplies of Adams products...however I am also going to be using other brands as well. Once I find what works good for me I will stick with those products. (for the most part) I know this is Adam's products forum....but I do have to say this is the FIRST forum that seems to practice censorship.
  11. Congrats...welcome to the sickness!
  12. The reason birds poop causes this on our paint is due to the fact that birds do not urinate. They use the same tube to pass these pasty secretions as they do to poop and lay eggs. This is why their poop it is white in color as it is uric acid. Class dismissed.
  13. LOL I do it all the time now!! Especially with black paint (since my wife's G37 is black). My wife is doing it too...so I am kind of laughing on the inside. She thought I would buy all this stuff and quit after seeing how much work is involved. NOT....I really like doing it and the satisfaction of making the paint completely change and seeing the faces of the ones that saw it before hand is priceless!! (especially my own face) This is the first sickness I am actually enjoying.
  14. In using them with the grit guard today it doesn't seem all that bad. I used the Adams soap for the first time and failed to get enough suds....maybe I did not add the right amount. I do know that the grit guards definately are not spinning in the bucket since they are not all the way down so that is good. The directions say use about two ounces in the wash MIT and fill 2/3 of the way up spaying into the mit. Do you do that with the it guard in place? What is an easy way to measure the two ounces?
  15. From what I understand the Revive polish is basically a masking polish...the best way to do it is to actually FIX the paint first. I would recommend watching The Junkmans videos (junkman2008 on the forum) as well as the videos put up by Adams for using each polish with the PC. I am new to detailing and so far I have learned you need to have a good technique in place to do a good job in your paint correction. Others have mentioned there are steps to correct the paint. Severe Swirl and Haze Remover has the most cut and is used with the green pad, next is Swirl and Haze remover orange pad, and finally Fine Machine Polish with the white pad. If you start with the swirl and haze remover you need to finish with the fine machine polish (to repair damage caused by the swirl remover). If you start with the severe Swirl and Haze Remover, it should be followed by the Swirl and Haze remover then the Fine Machine Polish. The progression of polish and pads is what gives you the best results. After using all those products to correct the paint...you can follow with a sealant or a wax (black pad). Watch the videos and learn how to use the PC....your results will be greatly improved as a result.
  16. I got mine brand new for $89...that is definitely affordable.
  17. I haven't checked but are all the buckets at Home Depot orange??
  18. I think most people, just I used to be, are oblivious to how badly swirls take away from the looks of their paint. I used to use a spray on wax that would hide the swirls and I thought that was good enough. I had no idea just how good the paint could look. After watching the videos from Junkman and Gary Dean...my outlook on paint has been forever changed.
  19. LOL...I was going to mention the grit guard too. That is my favorite Christmas movie...watch it every year! To the OP: Great first order...I have thought about the flex lately...I know I said I would be able to wait awhile...it's just on those contours the PC slows down and it is a pain to get the right angle on the sometimes.
  20. Yeah that would be crazy to have the paint detailed and not clean the inside...especially the windows. My wife will not even use her wipers because it leaves that line where the wipers stop on the windshield. So when the bugs hit it she would rather drive with them on there and that drives me crazy...I hate looking through bugs.
  21. Great job!! Love those G37's...my wife loves hers so much I never get to drive it!!!!
  22. I went to Home Depot and got their dual 1400 watt flood lights on a stand. They sure put out some light! It can also be taken apart for a smaller stand.
  23. Yep you have it bad.:agree: We were somewhere today and my wife's black G37 with a film of dirt on it, still outshines everything parked around it! She was surrounded by swirled cars!
  24. Here's the first few lines of the verse to John Mayer's song Shoadow Days: Did you know that you could be wrong
 And swear you're right
Some people been known to do it
All their lives But you find yourself alone
Just like you found yourself before
Like I found myself in pieces
On the hotel floor
Hard times have helped me see

  25. Well I will have to take the grit guard to Home Depot and see how it fits in their buckets then. The buckets at Lowe's were kind of cheesy anyway.... but they did have a nice foam grip for the bucket handle!
