Weird swirls... where did these come from?

Question

Was asked by my friend to goto a small show today, and I quickly said "yes!". :) This is my friend with the '67 Plymouth GTX I've mentioned before...

I spotted a yellow modern Charger identical to mine and HAD to go take a look... Looks great, very well taken care of... but has some weird swirls on the hood. Or are these holograms?

The pic doesn't show them very well, but they're not like the normal circular swirls from a towel or wash mitt.

Also saw a nice Lingenfelter Corvette. With, you guessed it, swirls on the hood! Hard to see in the pic, of course, but obvious in person... shouldn't the purchase of a car like that include a class on proper care?

Those look more like water spots to me.

Here is a shot of some lovely holograms:

ok yeah, definitely not holograms... I dunno what I was thinking. In person, there appeared to be patterns in the areas like swirls, but very small patterns. Could be from multiple water spot problems over time maybe.

Just over from the Charger Daytona, though... was a Charger Superbee and this owner was going over the car with a bottle of Adam's Detail Spray! Sweeeet. :)
