DieselDude Posted September 12, 2011 Posted September 12, 2011 Let us not forget what happened on September 11, 2001. It is hard to believe it has been 10 years since the World Trade Center Buildings fell. I ask all of you to continue to pray for our country daily in your prayers. I am proud to say that I am an "AMERICAN BORN AND RAISED" and consider it a privilege to call the United States of America my home.
b_pappy Posted September 12, 2011 Posted September 12, 2011 Sad to say there were only 4 US flags flying in our neighborhood, including ours. Interesting, in each driveway were American made cars, except the one naturalized Vietnamese family. Bruce
MAYBEN Posted September 12, 2011 Posted September 12, 2011 I lowered my flag to half staff as usual this Patriot Day.. Yesterday, I had the privilege to be photographed with a very large American Flag.. I haven't seen the pictures yet, but I did snap a quick one of the beautiful flag..
Z71_Denali Posted September 12, 2011 Posted September 12, 2011 anybody watch football yesterday? all the games on had flags the size of the field!
70'sChevyGirl Posted September 12, 2011 Posted September 12, 2011 It was a weird day for me with mixed emotions. We actually had an airplane at DTW that was coming from Denver to Metro D that was escorted to the airport by Fighter Jets and the SWAT Team was at the airport upon arrival. It was just a scare. Apparently, the 3 people that were acting weird were doing just that-acting weird. Better safe than sorry.
MAYBEN Posted September 12, 2011 Posted September 12, 2011 I saw this morning on the news that some flights were escorted after some passengers spent long amounts of time in the bathroom..
Z71_Denali Posted September 12, 2011 Posted September 12, 2011 I saw this morning on the news that some flights were escorted after some passengers spent long amounts of time in the bathroom.. when you gotta go... you gotta go:lolsmack: but yeah better safe than sorry, especially on the 10th anniversary. i'm sure everyone flying was nervous. thankfully nothing happend!
MAYBEN Posted September 12, 2011 Posted September 12, 2011 absolutely.. much better save than sorry.. My Parents are nervous as they are flying out Wednesday to Colorado to visit my Sister.. I'm even nervous.. who knows what these P.O.S. terrorists might try..
70'sChevyGirl Posted September 12, 2011 Posted September 12, 2011 I picked up my Daughter yesterday and her new twins and took them home from the hospital and there was K9 at the Hospital Door to greet everyone. The hospital is in Dearborn and it might be the largest Arabic community in the US. Would they actully try something like a terrorist attack on a Hospital?
Marylander Posted September 12, 2011 Posted September 12, 2011 Honestly, I flew my flag and thought of those who were lost, but I'm sick of the media coverage, the remembrances, the memorials, etc. This country needs to stop feeling sorry for itself, stop feeling like victims, and start moving forward by doing great, bold things. We're collectively stuck in this "woe-is-us" mentality and we need to stop sitting on our asses feeling sorry for ourselves -- we need to be expanding effort and ingenuity on all levels -- national, state, local and personal. Its time to stop blaming everything and everyone else for our troubles. We should be taking the lead in alternate energy, technology, space exploration, cars. Success -- and economic recovery -- will follow.
MAYBEN Posted September 12, 2011 Posted September 12, 2011 Agree to disagree. I can relate to some of what you are saying Rich, but as far as remembering and having memorials from the tragedy that is 9/11/01, I believe that it is needed. In the years since, it hasn't been as big in the media as it is this year marking the 10th year, but it also marks that we got the ******* that initiated and organized the attacks. Its a reminder that Freedom isn't Free and that there are Men and Women serving to help maintain our Freedom. Attending the Two Memorials I went to this weekend was nice to see that there still are people who appreciate what we do. Not just the First Responders, but our Military as well. I don't do it for the recognition, but when someone you don't even know approaches you, and thanks you for what you do, it feels really good, especially as a volunteer. Disclaimer: not sure I included everything in my thoughts, nor that I worded it as I wanted to portray these thoughts.

I absolutely think we need to always remember the loss of the innocent, and the sacrifices of the first responders, and the bravery of the military. What I'm saying is that as a country we need to stop feeling sorry for ourselves and start moving forward again – and challenging ourselves to be better.
