New Guy from So Cal

Hey, just wanted to drop a short intro. Found the site through a member on SilveradoSierra.com forums where I'm also a new member thanks to my new 2011 3500 Silverado which I would love to keep mirror black for as long as a truck can remain so... :)

I fell way out of favor with the Absorber recently and even more recently, NuFinish and so I'm basically looking for a new best of cleaning brands. This set of products sounds pretty amazing, and I'm impressed, but I just want to figure out what the best set is to purchase for starting. I don't have any visible swirls to my knowledge, just one faint scratch and one down to the primer, so not too sure what can be done about that, the rest, I guess I need to get some clay, to remove all of the NuFinish (plus maybe peanut butter or APC to get it out of the accidental plastic spots...?), and then I assume, the DS takes it's place as a polish and everything?

All tips for newbs like me are most welcome to get me started off on the right foot. I keep very busy but it won't keep me from trying to save at least a full day on my weekend to hopefully clean my massively over-sized truck shiny and good looking :)

Thanks guys!!!

Edit: I may look into a swirl remover for vehicles like my Dad's 65 Tbird, and some other cars of ours... Not sure which pack would be best, the junkman's or a basic car wash (the 200 dollar set) and save up for the massively expensive flex master set O.O

I'm not too sure which would be best, the larger Flex or the PC set for the areas and stuff. I think the PC is more aggressive...?

Welcome Scott. You might be close enough to Dylan to have him help you out if he isn't busy :D. If not, you are in a good area for clinics and can learn alot from them. I personally haven't been to one but I am dying to go.

Hopefully these are viewable, enlargable and all kinds of ables :) I live in West LA, Culver City/Marina Del Rey areas. Irvine isn't far and I think it would be beneficial to check out for sure. The last three were taken day of delivery. The black plastic no longer looks so shiny and black (curse you NuFinish!!!) and the black is still reflective but not as much. It's the main draw for me to the Adam's products, getting a nice reflection back on that great black. I may have gotten overzealous and sort of photoshopped the last three as well. The main full on was from my cell and not my DSLR.

Welcome Scott- roll on down to Irvine and check the products out live and in person. Your black truck could be the demo vehicle! I also drive a black vehicle, and that color is what made me find Adam's products.

Sounds like you are a candidate for SVRT for the plastic - great stuff, water based, and yet, water repellent when it dries. And not super shiny, just a satin finish - makes the plastic look like factory.

Were you implying I could go to have a demo on my truck on any normal day? Or on a clinic day. I checked out the clinic's offered coming up, however they all seem out of state and what not. Either way, I might head down there during the week or something, sometime.

During a clinic someone volunteers their vehicle's finish for demo purposes - who knows, it could be you. It's not like you get a full detail or anything, but you can see the actual products at work on your finish. You could go home with a very shiny 2'x2' area on your hood! :)

Clinics are only held once in a while, and as far as I know there is no Adams products demos on any other days. But, at the clinic, you will have seasoned detailers, Ashley and/or Dylan, showing you how they work.
