MichiganSRT8
hey guys, just wanted to post up pics of a recent clean up im doing on my girlfriends families car I am trying to sell for them. Poor jeep was driven by a high school girl for a few years so the normal interior and exterior beat up was taken to an extreme. But all mechanical things are kep up fairly well as their dad helped with that end. After 2 busy days I was able to see the difference and was happy with what I saw. Process: -2 bucket wash -Iron decon bath -clay bar -tape up -wet-sanding/polish, IPA wipe down between polish steps -Sand/Paint parts -Seal all part, glass/paint, headlights, plastics -Interior pre vac -Knock everything out of cracks and crevices -Interior plastic wipedown -Vac again -Dress interior surfaces -Final Vac/look over -Last wash -Done Pre-Inspection Faded Wiper Blades Water Spots on all windows Nasty interior Egg in speaker grate This was in every crevice Yes....spider webs in door pockets Rear wiper blade faded This was fun, scrape down side from pulling into garage. Interior not horrible, but not great Pine tree fun All taped up Wipers taped, ready to be sprayed Rear wiper needed attention as well Driver side headlight hit by egg, wetsanded and polished back out with what time I had. Passenger headlight during sanding Door had a few large scratches as well Wipers painted Egg removed with toothbrush Scrape gone, small dents left but much better Tails cleaned up Wheels and tires nasty All cleaned up Headlights nice and clear now Rear wiper top view sprayed Rear cleaned up Dash cleaned and dressed Final glamour shot with my jeep making a cameo Found a new front bumper at 50 local so that nasty one will be gone. and should complete the look. MichiganSRT8
Wow that thing was destroyed! Please post pictures when the new bumper is on because I also believe it will truly bring out how nice this restoration came out! Great work!! No problem, soon as its on ill update this thread, theres a few more things I wanna square away anyways. Wow that thing was trashed out pretty bad. You did a fantastic job on it!! Thanks a lot, took a while so the turnaround is nice to see Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Great job!!! That thing was a mess. I levied how you painted the faded wipers. What grit did you use on the headlights? They came out fantastic! for sure, that was my favorite turnaround too. Headlights were a pain, cause I didnt wanna fully go through the UV coating. Started with 1500/2000/3000 and it came out pretty clear. Owners asked me not to go too far, usually I would go from 500/1000/1500/2000/2500/3000 and finished with spar urethane/mineral spirits, its a bit of an overworked process but to me its the way I see it to come out perfect at the end. Looked like a crime scene! Awesome work! Hope they paid you because they'll get hundreds more for it now. haha yeah, I am getting paid, I date their daughter haha. im sure Ill get a cut of what they sell though, even though I asked for nothing. Great Job, huge difference thanks alot man! I'm pretty sure you just doubled the value of that thing. I can only hope, thatd be great if it works out like that. Cove over and do my Camry, it's nasty inside and out Haha not problem, bettendorf isnt too far away, let me jump in my plane for ya haha, actually my best friend was from bettendorf and think he's back there on monday for xmas actually. small world man, and i remember you had SRT8 jeep, even smaller lol. MichiganSRT8
That turned out great, what you did more than doubled the value of that Jeep! I hope so! thanks! That is incredible. Thank you good sir! Wow that's amazing!! Thanks! Wow great Job, Should be able to sell that thing easy What kind of paint did you use on the bumpers? yeah, already getting alot of action on it! very happy now that I did that. The paint used was Krylon Fusion spray paint. It s new formulation specifically for plastics, and from what everyone has said no prep is necessary, even though I did to make double sure. I love the way it finished down, plenty of coats and 5 cans later it turned out well.

MichiganSRT8
Fantastic work! My jeep fenders are starting to look bad. How did you prep the bumpers and black plastic? What type of paint did you use? Thanks a lot! Paint I used us called Krylon Fusion, I used the Satin variety to get that look with plenty of coats. The best part about this paint is it binds chemically with plastics so on the can and the company even says you dont have to prep it for that reason. But I just couldnt get that out of my head from all my paint prep work ive done so all I did was rough up the plastic with 1500 grit wet/dry sandpaper and after that wiped down with IPA and then went ahead with the painting. Id say your rubbie needs the exact same treatment and would look awesome in the end if you did what I did. Incase you wanna do it heres what you need: Krylon Fusion Satin Spray paint - $4.75 a can I used 5 for all moldings 3M Wet dry sandpaper - $5 at auto zone (already had them from other details) Painters plastic - $10 (home depot, or just use newspaper) Detail tape - you probably already have from details Isopropyl Alcohol - $1 at target Total : $39.75 I wrapped the whole car and I'm glad I did now cause after seeing my garage this spray paint had a lot of overspray, more than usual spray paint even. But hey for under 50 bucks. -wash -sand plastics with 1500 grit -IPA wipe down -look for missed spots -IPA wipe missed -Tape off/cover -Spray about 4-5 coats it took for mine to lay flat -Let sit overnight, take off tape and covers -Sit back and enjoy Super easy and a great way to change the look of a car fast. Better post up if you do it, love to see a rubbie with it done.
