GWC vs. APC

Bootstrap

Question

Hey all, I had a quick inquiry for you. I currently use GWC and the lug brush with great success on my wheels. My question is though, how does APC differ from GWC when it comes to cleaning the wheels?

Does GWC strip Quick Sealant/MSS like APC does?

Is APC too harsh on a chrome plated wheel?

I only ask because if I can consolidate to just APC, all the better right?

APC is a degreaser and acidic, so its not what we consider safe for all wheel finishes. I've seen it discolor/stain aluminum in no time flat, its also exhibited an ability to stain some flat black finishes. GWC won't have those issues.

Its not to say you can't use APC diluted to clean wheels, but it won't be as effective as other options. It excels at breaking down waxes, oil, grease, silicone, type contaminations (why its so good at cleaning tires) but not necessarily brake dust. Of course it will completely strip anything from the surface unlike GWC which is less likely to degrade your protective coatings.
