Glass Polish Advice?

OkaloosaST

Question

I have a few swirls and scratches in my brand new car's glass windshield. I have not been able to remove them and am disappointed. I have ordered product that starts with a "Z" and ends with an "aino" and am hoping it works. I couldn't find any Adam's products that actually polish glass... Any advice in how I can get these scratches out? They do not catch the fingernail at all, but it's just not going away with anything available in autozone.... Thank you!

It takes a MIGHTY machine and wheel to "polish" glass.  All the "glass polishes" that you see out there really only work on VERY VERY minor hazing and buildup.

Clay the glass, hit it with PFP, wipe down with IPA and apply Adams Glass Sealant and you'll be good to go!

I use water stain polish works everytime. Its made by a local company dons mobile glass. I use it with the green adams polishing pad. Also a diffenent company makes a water stain remover for shower doors that I have found at home depot.

Since I live in Florida, my buddy told me I am eligible for 2 new windshields each year with my comprehensive collision coverage and all I have to do is express that I feel like I'm not capable of being safe with the state of the windshield. I hesitant to do that because it will more than likely not be OEM glass. His anybody used Safelite before? It really is a distraction at night because the causes a bad glare with oncoming headlights.

There are specialized pads and compounds/polishes for glass - however it takes a fair amount of skill and experience to achieve any meaningful results with them.  Best advise is to clean, clay, seal, and live with the glass swirls.

Cerium oxide. The trick to making it work is the right pad and using LOTS of water. I am talking spray bottle in one hand and polisher in the other and you spray it after every pass. It doesn't break down like a normal polish so you just re-wet it to keep working it. It can be done with a DA, but expect to spend some time on it.

If your insurance is paying for a new windshield you can get a new OEM one.  I wouldn't settle for an aftermarket one.  Just have it replaced by the dealer body shop, they're no doubt an approved shop from your insurance.

So much this! OEM glass is always better than aftermarket glass. No stupid blue streak at the top and they seem to hold up better.
