mbp9997
Just saw this:mad:. Its rather disheartening that 1973 is back again....fortunately the corvette is its on division. The new CTS-V coupe will probably be a no go though. http://www.autoblog.com/2009/02/18/breaking-gm-disbands-high-performance-vehicle-operations/1#comments Article: Coinciding with the release of General Motors' Viability Plan, the automaker has disbanded its High Performance Vehicle Operations team, the crew responsible for the line V-series Cadillacs, the Chevrolet Cobalt SS, HHR SS and the V8 version of the Colorado. According to Vince Muniga, a spokesman for the General, "All high-performance projects are on indefinite hold. The engineers are moving into different areas of the organization, and they will work on Cadillacs, Buicks, Chevrolets and Pontiacs." Muniga went on to say that there are no plans for high-performance versions of upcoming plans, but once (if?) GM is in a better financial position, the team could be reinstated. JJ1o87
Yeah just read this on another forum. Pretty bad to see this happening.
Marylander
Well, if having the engineers from those programs melt back into the general engineering ranks, that's really not so bad. In fact, having those guys working on mainstream stuff might mean that the overall goodness of the basic platforms improves; you just won't see SS & V-Series badges on the cars. Kwhite
what are they gonna do with the camaro line?
Adam
what are they gonna do with the camaro line? Great question Ken! I wonder if they will ever offer the LS7 Camaro, or if they have a super limited production already made? Might be a valuable car one day, and one day soon! Sad to see the US Auto Maker factories closing, and the unemployment rate skyrocket in the USA. We can do one thing to help: BUY AMERICAN!!! Look at the country of origin tag on EVERYTHING that we consider buying, and if it says, "MADE IN CHINA" let the retailer know how you feel, by leaving it on the shelf. We should keep US Dollars in the USA right now more than ever.
