Help with Hood Decal

I just purchased a 2015 ROUSH in orange and it has a black hoods scoop decal. What is the best way / product to use to keep it looking new

I usually seal right over the decals. I don't polish them. To enhance their appearance you can cover them with VRT or I've had luck waxing over them. You have to be careful on the edges though or you'll catch a bunch of residue that will be difficult to remove.

 

I'm sure other guys here will have different methods and ideas.

You can use VRT however I like the look of BG.

Whatever you go with won't be permanent so you can try both over time and see what look you like.

How to best protect your hood decal depends on whether it is gloss vinyl or matte vinyl.

 

Gloss vinyl can be treated like paint and sealed or waxed.  Matte vinyl should not be waxed or sealed with Paint Sealant, since the residue will stain them.  Even if it looks OK the first time, the residue will build up and be difficult to clean off.

You raise a good point in the difference between vinyl and matte. The large majority of vinyl I've worked with has been gloss. So it's always been the standard "same as paint" mentality.
