Tar?????

What do you use to get tar off plastic like the cladding on an avalanche or the plastics like on the jeep cherokees?I also need to know what to use on the black textured mirrors that so many of these new trucks have.I had one yesterday that had white paint on it.

With all the repaving going on in Connecticut using some of the stimulus money I'm sure the "TAR" will find it's way onto my ride.

Kinda agree with the OP, tar and other stuff off that awful (IMO) gray plastic that alot of domestic manufacturers are using drives me crazy. My 2006 Jeep wrangler is loaded with the stuff!!!!

And the WD-40 doesnt turn the plastics white?

I've never tried it, but I've heard diesel or kerosene easily removes tar. I would try some clay to start with.

I have used goof-off with good success, it just has to be cleaned right away to get all the residue off. When doing black plastic it would be wise to do a spot test on an inconspicous area first, I have never had a problem but you never know.
