What is ok to wash in Cold Water?

jakerodz7

Question

I know that Adam's as well as every other detailing company out there seem to agree on washing your towels/wash pads and mitts in warm/hot water.  My question is, is there an exception to this rule?

I am wondering if you can get away with washing the following things in cold water:

1) wash pads/mitts after a wash with CWS

2) Towels after a wash with CWS or Rinseless

3) Pads/Mitts/Towels after washing with Wash and Wax

I have been washing a lot of detailing related loads and on my last one I ran it with cold water without really paying attention. Just curious as to if I have to wash it again with hot water or if I should be good?  Also if it happens again in the future do I need to worry about build up?

Thanks!

I don't think you need to worry about rewashing unless they have residues left on them.

The reason to wash on warm water is because it breaks down wax and detailing chemicals better.

I wash on warm with fresh rinse, my detergent is Adams Microfiber Revitalizer

I don't wash anything on less than warm water, but cloths that are for glass would probably be okay as long as they're just used with the glass cleaner.  At some point, most micros get bogged down with product even after washing.  That's when I soak them in the Microfiber Revitalizer and hot water followed by a wash with liquid laundry soap and hot water.  And if there's still residue, you may even have to boil them to get them really clean.

Today's regular laundry detergents are formulated to work better with cold water.  I don't know if MF wash has the same technology.

Test it out.  Wash a load in cold and a load in warm and compare!

A little off topic, but I am reminded of a trip to my grandfathers cabin many years ago. Grandpa served lunch and I noticed the plate wasn't spotless. I made a comment and grandpa said "that's as clean as Coldwater can get them."

Well, this was the mountain cabin so I accepted it.

At dinner I noticed the plate wasn't very clean again. Grandpa saw me looking and repeated "That's as clean as Coldwater can get them."

Well we finished dinner and as grandpa stood up he said "Time to feed the dog, Coldwater, dinner time" and his faithful dog Coldwater came running.

I now return you back to the forum, and useful information about detailing.
