PL Premium on Leather Seat

moons21

Question

Hi everyone, my friend had a mishap in his truck and got some PL Premium glue on his leather seat. Tried to use Leather Cleaner with the cockpit brush and that helped lift it off a bit. Conditioned it with leather conditioner and sent him on his way for now. Any advise on how to get construction glue off leather?

Not sure I if this would work but worth a shot, use a drillbrush attachment (you can get them on amazon), and try using that with the leather and interior cleaner, it really cuts the time down and gets out deep stains.

The longer the glue sits on the seat has ill effects, it won't be coming off easy, it's glue it's forming a permanent bond to the surface. Unfortunately the only possible way to remove it would have been a steamer.

Do not try the drill scrubbing attachment it will only wear down the leather and destroy the leathers surface before you even get any glue removal.

Agreed don't use a drill attachment on leather it will only make the leather extremely fragile, instead using a soft boars hair brush and leather and interior cleaner do light repeated passes.

Obviously you don’t hold the drill in the same spot long and you order an extremely soft one.

The longer you wait the chances are slim to none.

PL is no joke, that's some serious glue!! I've tried tire and rubber cleaner on leather seats and it doesn't discolor the seats, now I used it for gum but you might want to try that. I wonder if steam would do anything.

Pl Premium is the stickiest, nastiest glue known to mankind! I can't help but make sure before you try other steps that you're not responsible. I would say if they're coated leather that the coating has already been compromised and you may get the glue off buy it'll leave a stain type look

Don't know if this will help or not, but this guy tried Mr. Clean Magic Eraser on his floor and it removed the PL.  The Magic Eraser may work on the leather and shouldn't harm it as long as you clean it off after and treat the leather with conditioner, or even the Adam's Eraser might work. I haven't tried the Adam's Eraser yet, so I'm not sure if it's the same type of deal as Mr. Clean. But I would try that a.s.a.p.

I was going to say, isn’t the “deep clean eraser” just a magic eraser?
