Glass sealant on GM plastic headlight lense?

coops18ZR2

Question

Hello all,

I was wondering if applying glass sealant to plastic headlight lenses would be a good or bad thing?  Would there be any adverse effects from applying it, i.e. premature yellowing of the lenses, rainbow or scatter effect of headlight beam, or anything else?

I should note that when I dried the truck I used H2O GG on the entire truck including the headlights, don't know if that would make a difference but thought it might be note worthy.

Thanks in advance for any thoughts or ideas on the matter.

Tony

Hi Tony, great question!

Adam's Glass Sealant would be fine to use on the headlight lenses, and will not cause any of the issues you mentioned; however, since you already have them protected with H2O Guard & Gloss, I would probably just stick with that for now.

I actually use Paint Sealant on headlights for more durable protection, since they usually get the brunt of bug splatter and a lot of sun exposure.

Dan,

Thanks for such a quick reply!!!  Also, thanks for the pointers about using the paint sealant on the headlight lenses, I hadn't thought about that.  I wasn't sure if it was needed or necessary to apply the glass sealant with the H2O GG on the headlights already.

Thanks for answering the question Dan.

Have a great day!

Tony
