One of my most favorite ones.  I was just taking shots after I finished the detail, but was very pleased when I saw this on the computer screen....

I self taught myself.  Like detailing, there's a lots of very good information out there (like Adam's great videos).  However, I've found most US photo magazines are more concentrate on gears rather than methods.  While UK's photo magazine (book stores like Barnes & Noble carries them) do a lot more of "How To" that actually teach you how to shoot & post process a shot.  I read a lot of those magazine when I started.  And also look at other people's work.  In the long run, that would train your "eye" for the composition/style.

Example (see attachment), you saw a photo like that, and you like it.  Next time, you can try to shoot a similar shot like that too.  The more you see others work, the better you will be.  Flickr, 500px, are some of the good site to get started.

I have a canon xsi dslr that I'm still learning to use by reading books. I'm no pro but these are some I took that I liked. I'm not sure of the settings because when I go out I'll take around 40 pics trying different things.
These are a couple of my 07 TBSS I liked.

I did some mild editing on this one.

After reading through the How to Photograph your car thread I started thinking a thread to just post up your random photos for those who are into photography whether you use a DSLR or a camera phone.

The photos can be of anything from cars to nature shots! Also if you want to share you camera settings it's always nice to share for those who are interested in that information.

Photos need to be somewhat current as well. Please try to just post a few pics at a time, not all the photos you have taken the past year.

I too disagree on the polarizer.  At least it's not a must have tool that you use every time shooting a car.  I started out as a landscape photographer, so I'm sensitive with the "right" light.  And it helps to translate on car photo too.  As other had mentioned, shoot near sunset, not have to be golden hour (the hour before sunset) or the blue hour (the hour after sunset), but the closer to the sunset time, the better in general.

And I generally like to photograph with the sunlight directly hits the car.  Like I'm in between the car & the sun.  In most case, it will give the best look of the paint/color of the car.  Of course given the paint is in good shape to start with.  You don't want to show all the swirl marks with the sunlight hitting it!  But pay attention of your own shadow tho!  You don't want to included that in the shots.  Also pay attention of the reflection on the car.  Like how the clouds show on the hood, it make a good show case photos too.

Here's a few example that I did after I finished detailing the client's ride.  I work in my home garage, so I don't have a good background in my neighborhood for a clean background shots.  But I'm not out shooting dedicated photoshoot neither.  Just to show case my detailing work.

If you've notice, most of my shots have the sunlight directly onto the car to better show off the color and to give the car a warm glow.  And yes, don't forget you don't have to shoot the whole car, sometimes some close up detailed shots work even better too.

p.s. sorry if I uploaded too many photos.

Just a quick update: Owner brought over the new wheels and I coated them with some remaining CQuartz I had sitting around. And the next day we took the car to a show. Car was dirty from rain the night before when we took it out, so I did a full rinseless wash when we got to the show. The looks and questions you get when washing a car AT a car show are always fun.

Yes, I had Modesta applied at Phil's shop Detailers Domain. I'm not too far from them and once I saw the work they do there was no other choice.

I'm under the impression APC (diluted or not) will remove wax/sealant...?

    Whereas WW will not.

@TheShineDoc - can you weigh in here?

I think I'll use diluted Rinseless for general washing. And keep WW on hand to get bugs and grime off.

Damn thats a friggin massive explosion.

I would think a stronger concentration of pre-soak Rinseless (8:1 or 6:1) should probably be able to break down the bug guts just as well as the RTU Waterless.  However, I agree, the "QD ratio" 16:1 Rinseless is more of a pre-soak on panels before rinseless washing, you do need something stronger to break up bugs.

Not sure about the chemistry of each product but I would think Adam's Rinseless in the higher doses should break up bugs well.

I do use another polymer product though with no wax additive and at the diluted ratio it is awesome on breaking up bug guts, but it is more concentrated than Rinseless or Waterless.

Hi everyone! I am new to Adam's polishes and detailing as well. I recently got a new car, Porsche Macan, a few months ago and unlike my previous ride I hope to keep her shiny for many years to come so I have a lot to learn.

I stocked up on various Adam's products after getting my car coated with Modesta and the detailer recommended Adam's shampoo. That was just the beginning to my Adam's addiction and so far I am very happy with the products I have tried. The detail spray smells so good too!

I have already learned so much from this forum reading old threads etc, on when and how to use the various products. The more I read tho, the more I want to order Adam's products. Thank you to the forum LOL

Here is the video on bug gut presoak

APC would work better for tar. Soak it on a utility towel and leave it to soak for a few minutes to soften up the tar. Same procedure can be used for bugs. Make sure to rinse off right away though.
