Looking for ways to hang / store my polishers...
MaStA replied to teamcrossworks's question in General Detailing Discussion and Questions
Curious to see what other ideas you come up with. I only have one polisher currently, but I am hoping to be getting a Flex or Rupes in the future. -
New Red Squeeze Tops
MaStA replied to stripesace's topic in Product Polls, Feedback, and Company Input
I'm so new to Adam's that I have only experienced the red caps lol. However, I would definitely take advantage of the $1 shipped for three caps while it lasts! I've even contemplated ordering a few as backups, but I don't know if I will ever need them haha. -
When I first bought my STI I lived in an apartment, but I rented a one car garage. I did not have access to wash the car in the parking lot so I had to also go to a coin op place. Now I live in a duplex with a two car garage so I take care of it all in my driveway. I have a Sun Joe 2030 psi pressure washer that I use a foam cannon on now. Makes it fun haha. What steps did you take to remove any leftover residue from the prior application? Did you strip it with soap, clay it off, or simply apply another layer of sealant after a wash? What state are you in by the way? I used to live in Michigan and had to fight with all of that stuff, but now I'm in New Mexico and we are lucky to get a dusting down here. Up in the mountains about 30 minutes away though there will be plenty of snow.

I guess I should have read all of his post the first time and not just the part that he replied to me with haha. Yeah that is against what I have always read in the past, but it makes sense as long as the sealant can adhere properly to the glazed layer. In theory that would lock in the nice glazed look that you would expect when applied as the last layer. Curious to see how it holds up for you.

I see. I was always under the impression that sealant should always be the base coat, but I could be wrong. Either way it turned out looking good!

Layering over liquid paint sealer???
MaStA replied to Erictski's question in Exterior Protection & Enhancement
Glad to be learning these little tid bits from you guys. I always thought to wax over a sealant was a necessary step, but if liquid sealant provides a nice shine still without having to wax as well that is more of a time saver for me. My wife's CR-V is the darker metallic color so wax may still be needed to give it a nice shine. -
Picture I took of the Lunar Eclipse back in September. I wish I had a longer lens...but my 55-200 had to do.

"Tote"ing your gear-in what?
MaStA replied to derek1387's question in Towels, Brushes, & Accessories
I use a bucket jockey from Home Depot that goes around the rim of a 5 gallon bucket for transporting chemicals and cleaning accessories around my garage while detailing or outside when washing my cars. -
FAQ: "How do I take care of my microfiber towels?"

Hopefully putting the vinegar into the rinse cycle only will clear up the issues. Good luck!- 65 replies

My statement about the consensus was from reading around the forums. I've never used the product but I would be willing to bet using a wash mitt regardless of how soft it is wears down on a product. So it is possible that protection could last longer if you wash once per month opposed to once per week.

The general consensus seems to be every 3-4 washes.

FAQ: "How do I take care of my microfiber towels?"
MaStA replied to Team Adam's's topic in The Adam's Detailing Library
Is it a front loader or top loader? In the front loading machines there are tablets you can use to clean the drum. I use one called Affresh in mine and it works quite well.- 65 replies

lol I actually did watch it. Maybe the thought of my question came from the fact of what Adam already stated. Thank you for confirming. -

All Purpose Cleaner
MaStA replied to ray14sher's question in General Detailing Discussion and Questions
I do my best to store my bulk products/wax/sealant/etc. in my laundry room so if something happens to the bottled stuff in the garage at least the loss will be small. The Deep Wheel Cleaner gallon is kind of making the room smell so I may have to find a different place for it. -
Thank you for your service Rich!

Glass sealant and cleaner
MaStA replied to hotrodbob's question in Exterior Protection & Enhancement
I'm going to have to buy some of this the next time I place an order. I wonder if it does anything for snow/ice to keep it from adhering as well to the glass making it easier to remove. -
Did you put the glaze on prior to the sealant?
-
Good stuff! I bought my Porter Cable 7424 several years back before the XP model existed, but I have been eyeballing the Flex XC 3401 VRG for a while. In my opinion I would skip the PC 7424XP and go for the Flex because down the road you will want it and would have saved money in the long run by going straight for it. It costs a little more, but it will be worth it if your time is valuable since it can expedite correcting defects from what I have seen.

I'm more for a plain, but clean look so I would put the white letters on the inside.
