  1. I have a ryobi, works well... I've had it a couple years...
  2. Nice truck. You'll really love the better headlights. I went from a Fire Red 2014 Sierra SLE to a Tungsten Grey 2016 Silverado LT. I wish I had shopped some LTZ's because I do miss some of the creature comfort/cool stuff the SLE had that you need to goto an LTZ Chevy to get. Any truck is a crap load of work, I detail my wifes Mazda 6 and I'm like dang this is a walk in the park compared to my truck.
  3. Carolina Work Boots if I am washing for sure, they're pretty good for anything else too but, if It's hot sometimes I'll go for a good pair of tennis shoes.
  4. I'd go for the spotless rinse system over the master blaster... It's the next thing on my list. I have a nice TORO leaf blower that I've used to dry the vehicles, it's pain. Drying with towels always nets me a lot of static build up which makes my truck or car a dust magnet.
  5. Thanks for the feedback, it turned out okay, it was pretty cloudy, hard to say how bad it was being silver i kinda hid the haze, what a turn around it was from the process. The liquid paint sealant came off very easily for what it's worth. I don't know much about sanding but, it scares me to think of doing that. I might do the rest of the car with paint finish polish we will see how that goes. I think your take is spot on.
  6. Thanks for the feedback, it was about 80* not very humid. I should have taken some pics of the old girl. I'll wash it next weekend and try to remember to take a few shots. I'm crashing here between our old house closing and being able to move into the new one so I've got some time on my hands. Looks like the one above except it has a silver front grill. It's a really cool ride, they don't make 'em like that anymore. My Dad has always had a thing for large cars, when I was a kid I learned to drive in a 1988 Mercury Grand Marquis....
  7. I don't see how it could hurt anything but, I think I'd put on liquid paint sealant instead.
  8. Interesting. I may have been doing too large of an area but, for the most part I just did one quick trip around the area to spread it out and then one pass in two different directions to do a cross hatch pattern.
  9. Thanks. I doubt it was the pad though as I had the issue from the first panel. I've got two sets of pads except the 5" MF pad I only have one of those I'll grab a 2nd one on my next order. I'm thinking the car was so trashed that it just made a mess of the clean up.
  10. Interesting. Thanks for the feedback, def was not saturated with product I made that mistake once I'm thinking lots of oxidized clear it was pretty hazy before we started. I'll be detailing my brothers newer caddy prob next weekend and I'll see how that goes.
  11. Did a detail today, 2002 Crown Vic, pretty rough shape but, cleaned up awesome and the polish really did make it shine BUT, it was major pain to remove, we HAD to use detail spray to get it loose. The polish is about a year old, used both paint correcting and finishing both were hard to get off. I have mostly kept my stuff in the climate controlled basement... I think my technique and amount of polish was on point, I've watched tons of videos and done 3-4 full corrections in the last year or so, this is the first one this season and I'm wondering if maybe the clear was pitted and holding onto the polish or something, all my other details were on cars at least 10 years newer.
  12. Did a little polishing and a coat of liquid paint sealant on my Dad's 2002 Ford Crown Vic LX Sport. It's got about 110k miles and it's never really been properly detailed. I did two step on the hood and trunk but, he didn't want to spend a whole ton of time so we did correcting polish with the orange MF pad on the rest of the car. I did of course 'clay' it with my autoscrub, this time I used the Porter Cable for the autoscrub as well as the polishing obviously. Mainly I used Adam's pads, I have a few of the other guys pads left over as backups but, the Adam's kick butt, especially the latest gen pads. I am growing tired of the PC. I would really like to get a rupes bigfoot 15 for my 6" pads and toss the 4" backing plate and pads on the PC for tight areas but, moving into a new house in a couple of weeks that probably will have to wait till next year. Next up is my little brothers Caddy ATS4, I did a little work on it last fall but, it needs full two step correction VRT etc. After that my Silverado needs some love but, since I knew WTF I was doing from day one on it it's not ever really taken on any major damage from washing so the clay bar, vrt and H20 G&G has really made it look awesome even though that's all it's had in the 9k miles of it's life.
  13. I never got a funnel but, I've never bought 5 gallons, I just went and bought a SS funnel from the home supply place.
  14. I situate my garage so that I back my truck in, the wife pulls her car in, we do this because we're always opening our doors towards the outsides of the garage not towards each others cars. I put foam on the walls in those spots so when we open the doors you can't hurt the doors on the studs in the garage.
  15. I've got a 2016 Silverado and a 2014 Mazda 6, both have super thin metal I have to be careful when I polish them, you can dent these new vehicles so easily it's sad, I bet a whiffle ball bat would cause a dent without much effort, they don't make 'em like they used to.....
  16. Sweet, never thought of using it with a pressure washer but, seems to make sense to me.
  17. Welcome! I have a 2016 Silverado 1500, so far because I've been lazy and super busy, I've only done weekly washes (as much as possible) Clay bar, H20 Guard and Gloss, VRT & In and Out Spray on the plastics. My last truck was a 1500 GMC and that got the full treatment Clay, two step polish liquid paint sealant and the same plastic treatment, don't for get to seal your wheels and headlights! Don't get intimidated, honestly you could wash properly every 7-10 days (wash it even if it's gonna just get dirty again soon) Clay it a few times a year, it doesn't take forever and seal it, even H20 guard and gloss gives a lot of shine and protection for the time it takes and you'd be doing more than most of the population. I'd start with this kit: http://adamspolishes.com/shop/kits/washing-cleaning/adam-s-daily-driver-detailing-kit.html Check out this video if you haven't yet: Have fun!
  18. Thanks for the advice guys. We gotta decide if we will keep it off lease, it's been an OK car but, I think the wife might rather have a crossover.... If I'm turning it in I will wait till the pre-lease inspection and see if it's covered under the damage waiver...
  19. Thanks for the advice, if they can't get it out, new hood? Why no bondo?
  20. Yeah thanks for chiming in, I'm not a great body guy, if it was in a less obvious place I could give it a shot. I think I'll just take it up to a few places and get a quote. I'm pretty sure that someone must have dropped something on the hood in a parking lot, worst case I've got a $500 deductible on my insurance policy. The wild card is the car is a lease and there is a damage allowance. I put some LPS on the area to protect it for now.

    New SUV

Nice truck! I there aren't many mid size SUV's that are really trucks any more I appreciate the 4 runners for that.
  22. Yeah I figured that much, any idea how they'll fix the crease? fill it in with bondo?
  23. Hey guys our 2014 Mazda 6 suffered a nasty scratch and dent on the hood, really more of a crease than a dent I suppose. I tried using some 2000 grit wet and some 4" focus pads on the battery drill (won't do that again) but, I just made matters worse. I am okay at polishing but, apparently not sanding and focus polishing lol. I was going to take it to the local body shop, just thought I'd see what you guys thought. When it first happened, clearly down to the metal and creased. After I tried to 'fix it' got down through the clear coat, man it's thin.
  24. It's on my short list of things to add to my arsenal of tools, I hate drying with detail spray because it makes the truck a dust magnet from static build up and I'd prefer to touch the paint as little as possible , I don't like using a blower because it's hard work, I don't like doing either because I'd rather spend my time doing something else.
