  1. He does say that it is his finding that FMP has a higher cut. But also mentions that is directly opposite of the instructions and to follow the website. I would like to know where SHR and FMP fall on the cut scale and what they could be compared to as say Merazerna, or say Meguiar's 105/205 combo. I like the FMP, gives some real nice gloss after its been worked. I have not had enough experience to say with any certaintity which combo is the best. These are new poducts to me as is the PC. So I'm still on a learning curve lol. In my few uses, I have have started with SHR/orange and SHR/white depending on the looks of the paint. I am not perfect yet as I left some hard to see scratches in my Acura hood. Although, shr followed by fmp got out a good scrtatch that went both passenger side doors. It was deep in some spots but you almost have to be on top of and off to a side to see it. And even at that, it looks like a crease in the paint rather than a scratch. Used the spot pad by hand and worked awesome.
  2. I do not have the one from Adam. Mine has that clip that goes through one of those grooves. Once that clip goes in, it catches the bumped out ring (best explantion I have right now) and secures the wand. Perhaps yours didn't come with it? Or maybe it came loose during shipping, as that wand comes un-attached I would think, and you never even saw it. Perhaps just a new wand could be sent out. If you bought the one from Adam, send him an email. He'll take care of it.
  3. I beleive there should be some sort of pin that acts like a clamp. Kinda like a "C" clip. I might have a different one than you, but mine 'clicks' in and is a bear to get off. Check out to see if you have (or lost) the pin. You should feel the wand lock in.
  4. x2... Boar's Hair brush is the best brush I have used for cleaning my wheels. Don't know how I got by before that.
  5. No you are right. But gotta make do. Like I said, the finish is excellent. The products were great. Could I use FMP/Orange for a more aggressive combo? I know the SHR/Orange is the one but I just checked your video out on polishing again and just wanted your thoughts on that now that you have used the products more.
  6. As long as I stay on top of it. Inside and out, it is no problem keeping it clean. If I let it get away from me, it gets messed up fast as it is the DD.
  7. Actually, I was. It may not have sounded it, but I was doing just exactly that. That problem I think I ran into is that garage space is a premium for me so I was forced to do the hood outside. Although it was not sunny out, it was not like natural garage lighting. It realyl wasn't until that night when it was dark and the motion light came on as I walked past and caught a glimpse. Had to go back and tilt my head to re-create that angle. As for DD's, I try to keep the DD's as clean as possible. Plus, it is theraputic for me very zen like...me and the paint. lol
  8. Seeing I have a Taco, I gotta find out for certain. Anything different I should do? I polished all fenders up and I had no silver paint on my pad at all. Granted they weren't bad at all. Hmm, wonder how I could find out for certain.
  9. That's what I figured. Is it possible to go through the clear and not notice it? I have to figure that if I had red paint on my wool pad I would notice the fender being dull no? Like I said, just a thread I was reading and needed to bounce it off you guys. Thanks!
  10. I hear what you are saying, and you are right. Just one of those things. Spent some good time on the hood and was like WTF when I saw them. Again, it really has to be in the right light on an angle. And it is a DD, but I like my dd perfect lol. I will see if I can get a pic up here. Thanks!
  11. ...so I polished up the wife's acura the other day. (2003 TL) I did 2 passes with orange/SHR on speed 6 (PC XP), followed with 2 passes white/FMP at 5 then backed down to 3. Then a coat of SMW. Now the finish looks like a mirror, but if I get the right angle up close and kinda look 'over' the hood I can see marks and very tiny pot marks. When I back away it looks flawless. Did I need another pass with the orange/shr combo? I thought I was going kinda slow and the plate was spinning. I am rather new at machine polishing. Or do I need to get a more aggressive coumpound? I am assuming the marks where a tad deeper and not enough clear was removed. Or perhaps my technique needs to be refined. Like I said, the finish looks very good, just being real particuliar on the DD's.
  12. Do any car mfgs still use this? The reason I ask, is that there is a thread going around about single stage paint on the fenders of the 2005+ Tacoma's. I polished up my fender with an orange and white pad using SHR and FMP and never noticed any color. Some guy was using a wool pad and it was stained red from the fender. HE claimed that the paint was single stage. Could it be true that the fenders are single stage or did he burn the clear on the fenders?
  13. Did you use the washer? and was it tight enough?
  14. Nah, fish 'n chips. First bite a drip came of oil came out and landed in my lap. Usually, there is always something left over no matter what I use. Soon as it happens gave the spot a shot of APC front/back and rub the spot good. Rinsed out and then washed. No spot and no discoloration where the spot was. Good stuff that APC. It will be my only non-auto use for it.
  15. I have some Castrol Super Clean (i think that is the name of it), it is in a purple container (not purple power). I find it pretty good for a degreaser. Water down 8: - 16:1 it is a milder cleaner and pretty good at it. Full strength is real strong. Biodegradeable. Works good, but having to dilute to different strengths kinds stinks. I kept a bottle at 4:1 and 2:1 for my uses around the garage. 4:1 made a good overall cleaner for my tires, rims, wells. Didn't leave any white stuff. Not bad in a pinch if you run out GWC or APC plus nice to have around the house, not to chemically and works in a variety of places where you might use APC on in non-auto applications. I like the APC alot now that I have used it (even got some grease spots out of my shorts!) but from a cost standpoint, I keep my APC for strickly auto use.
  16. Thanks! They have a location not far at all from me. Shot the owner an email. See what he thinks. Just got the truck in Aug '08... scratch on the driver side window, good amount of rock chips (love RI roads) on windshield, and to top it off slipped on ice this past winter getting in..keys flew out of my hand and hit the dash under the climate controls and left a few little marks on the dash. What a winter....well you what they say about things in three's...
  17. Yeah, I can feel the middle part with my nail. I gave the company Adam sent me an email to see what is up. Already tried the SHR/Yellow combo. Helped a little to soften the edges of the scratch so it is less noticeable from certain angles but it is still there.
  18. I agree with Junkman. The service you get from Adam's is great. There is nothing wrong with a bucket from Lowe's. If the Grit Guard fits, a bucket is a bucket. As for the dollies, I think most buckets will fit. I don't own a dolly so I cannot speak for certain. Now, here is the way I look at it... I spent some time reading ALOT on this fourm. I cannot tell you how many stories are on here about how someone (as a customer) has had an issue with an order/product/whatever and they had it taken care of right away and then some. I can speak of one instance myself. Adam sells alot of great products, to some extent a bit more cash than the competition for like products. The few dollars extra is worth it when I have an issue. Not too mention that his stuff works, and works pretty darn good. I say to each there own. However, I highly doubt you will find a better car care company than this one. Remember, this is not a Mom & Pop down the street who you see in church. This is a online store. (You can get things locally at a dealer if you are so lucky to have one near) But try and find another online retail store with this level of custormer satisfaction and service level. I have yet to and I have been shopping the net for a long time. I have worked in retail for 16 years now and CS is what it all comes down to. Especially in this economy. I'll give Adam a few extra bucks because I know at some point, I will need help and he WILL be there and make the problem right. Just something to consider as you mull over the products. You will not be disappointed.
  19. In the top righthand corner, there is a link to SHOP ONLINE. Also, you could directly to http://www.adamspolishes.com/, under machine polishing. Hope that helps ya out.
  20. I like the badges. But if there is ALOT, maybe take few off. You could always paint them black (or color of choice) and put them back on. Pretty easy process. If your interested, let me know.
  21. Yes I know, but is it still labled Metal Polish #1? That is what my label says. And with the directions on the back of the bottle mentioning a #2, I want to make sure I got the new formula. Thanks!
  22. Does the bottle still have a 'Metal Polish #1' label on it? I just got mine and it says metal polish #1. On the directions it mentions using #2 to get a high gloss. I sent out an email to find out for sure, but being the 4th and all, I figured here was a better place to get a quicker answer. Wonder if I got some old product?
