I am new to all this, and have been thinking about the process and how I want to go about setting myself up. This is what I will be working with:
PC 7424XP
Gen2 pad System
w/ extra Orange and White pads
SHR/FMP/SMW are the products I will be using.
My questions stem from using the pads with the product. I understand that the SHR goes w/ orange pad and down the line with the rest of the color coding. However, will I ever need the orange pad with the FMP? Or the White pad with SHR? Would this mix'n'matching result in more/less cutting based on what I need to accomplish? I was thinking that I might need an orange pad for both SHR and FMP depending on where I needed to start with my cut and likewise a white pad for them both depending on where I was after the SHR. Or am I just making something a little more complicated than it should be? Do I just use the orange pad with SHR no matter what and adust pressure, passes and applications based on where the paint is and where it needs to go? I see in the videos its orange pad with SHR and then white with FMP. Both Adam and AJ do it that way, although Adam sprays DS and AJ does not I think. Any reason why?
When do I know it is time to go to FMP and put the SHR/Orange pad down?
Also, is a DS misted orange pad less aggressive than a dry orange? And if that is the case, the orange pad would only be dry the first time you put polish on it correct? How would that be cost/time effective if one would need tons of dry pads? Or am I missing something?
Like I said in the New Member section, I have just my Tacoma and my wifes Acura right now. So I figured 2 of each on the orange and white and only the 1 black was a good way to start. Was that a good idea? I am afraid that I will not have enough pads once I start doing a vehicle.
I have the usual stash of supplies: Clay bar, exterior dressing, interior dressing, MF towels, MF applicators, etc etc so I think I am ready to go once everything gets here and the rain lets up just trying to get a idea in my head how to pair the product with the pad.
Sorry for lumping so many questions into one post. Had tons of stuff swirling around my head and it all came out lol.
Thanks!
