  1. Not at all, you can do it to, just start small lol Thank God it worked out, that's exactly what I'm doing and I hope I don't get to carried away because little steps at a time is best
  2. I don't think I'd even do a smart car by hand, it really does get tiring, considering you'll probably end up doing a two step correction to finish. Definitely a good experience. If you were going to try I'd definitely start with a small spot in an "invisible" area on the worst orange peeled area on the paint.
  3. I used the swirl killer 15 mm with a blue MF pad and correcting compound, then I used the orange foam pad with the correcting polish. It took a few passes and it came out great. Right now is a great time to pull the trigger on a polisher during their sale. Also I'd contact Dan Tyger he can probably set you up with a great package... good luck!! I was so close to finishing it with the finishing polish but I skipped I might have to go back and try it. I don't know why I've never felt there was a difference but I'll give it a shot. Thankfully they did a good job keeping the color match, it even had the little sparkle. The sad thing is every time I passed the shop I wanted to go and give them a piece of my mind but I never did.
  4. So about a year ago my car was hit, thank God no one was seriously injured but my car needed both rear quarter panels repainted. (One was from the accident, the other had scratched and I thought the guy would be able to get it out...) So they repainted the car's quarter panels and when I went to pick up the car it was wet, but the car looked great. After it dried I realized they didn't do a great job. Instead the paint looked like it was blurry. Needless to say I was disappointed. So today I decided to try and get it with a polisher. And by the grace of God, it worked....ONE YEAR OF horrible paint. ONE YEAR of pointless detailing to have 2 ugly quarter panels...and after that BAM hit it with Heavy Correcting Compound and done. I might have to hit it with some 2000 grit just in case but that's the plan. Here are some pictures. IF you look at the light in the later pictures. You'll see how the paint was and how it is now.
  5. I'm 23 and I hate getting on my knees to do wheels or tires I've wanted to get a seat but I just feel like like I don't detail enough to warrant a seat
  6. I've never taken my license plates off now I'm scared how it looks back there. Don't bring your wash pad too close to your car emblems
  7. I probably just miss the reason you have a towel on the floor in the second part of that video but I really think the way you shoot these videos is cool. Also have you thought about getting like a table? The other day I was doing some work and had my stuff on a table for the first time and it made the session a lot less harsh on my body
  8. IDK if it would get that clear because it's plastic, some of the other newer cars are like actually shiny
  9. WOAH that's something I've never seen...that's really coo, do you think you could have gotten them more reflective with like a compound or no?
  10. Wow that's interesting. I saw your pic and figured this guy knows something
  11. So I have a 2010 Dodge Charger and the B-pillars are this like dull plastic black. I don't know if they can be polished or if they just need to be coated with some sort of VRT or something. I've tried H2OGG on it before and I didn't really see a long difference. (Long in reference to time) I don't think the spot is supposed to shine, so I'm just wondering if anyone knows any way to enhance it.
  12. Thank God it worked out, although I may have hit a tiny tiny spot to hard and I think I lost some clear but it happens I really want to but I'm afraid I might push too hard, I have a tendency to press down. What about a foam block, another website has them, but it looks more solid.
  13. I might need to pick some up...thanks for the input
  14. I'm liking the control idea lol definitely seems like a good idea, I always tell myself to do a control but then if it's a good idea I usually just jump on it.
  15. These may be the before photos. LOL
  16. I never thought that I would ever in a million years take sand paper to my car. Well yesterday I did. So starting from the top. I had finished my morning Church services early and decided to head to the Home Depot to pick up some sand paper. I never thought that 1500 grit paper let alone 2000 would be so smooth. When I went home I left the sand paper in a water bucket for about a half hour, then I went to town. I used a foam block from Adam's because I didn't have a sanding block and then I eventually transitioned to a more complex piece of cardboard. I started out doing an inconspicuous spot on the roof in a corner. I did an 8 in x 8 in square starting with 1500 grit and then 2000 grit. After I felt I sanded enough, I used the microfiber pad with the compound to buff out the scratches. That put most of the shine back into the dulled paint. Then I used an orange pad and polish to buff out a little more. Finally I sealed it and that was that. For my first time I definitely think I did okay. I saw a little orange peel left, but I thought it was better than before. I then proceeded to try a more orange peeled area, the trunk lid. I was a little excited so I kept going. I got the 1500 grit and went for a piece about a foot and a half x 8 inches. It was a little large to do by hand and I had to do extra polished because I forgot the 2000 grit and after polishing, I went back to do 2000. Overall I felt like it was a good experience. Also I always do this but I'm not a 100% sure which are the before photos. Now for a few questions 1) What would I need to sand using the SK 15 mm? 2) Has anyone else seen a difference going the extra 3000 step? because I barely saw a difference going to 2000 3) Also Where do you guys buy sanding disks and foam backing plates for the SK 15? Any advice is appreciated.
  17. I have a SK and I feel like this might be happening to me to, If I get near a curve without pressure I see the microfibers on the pad sort of slowdown or stop spinning. I think they stop spinning because when I lift the polisher off, it starts spinning the fibers like you'd expect. I'm alittle concerned, maybe I'll try to put a video up. It definitely gets bothersome.

    Gum on pants

We need more details; color, material, location, weather...pictures....JK Good to know the other day I saw Dan post about cleaning shoes with tire and rubber cleaner...cool to think about
  19. I think the pictures are a little hard to see the haze...I Was thinking maybe it was a repaint, cause that's what happened to my car, but if you say 2017 I highly doubt that it's a repaint
  20. I did the same as the OP; I always overlooked the ceramic boost cause I don't have a coating but that's pretty cool.
  21. This probably sums up my greatest fear of using a ceramic coating
  22. If any of my friends saw this they would laugh because they always tease me about not having a sunroof lol
  23. So I washed the car and immediately after I looked inside and didn't see anything going in. I'm pretty sure it might be the glue that is holding the "molding" to the roof liner....I'll try that cup trick, but I don't think it's a leak, or if it is it might be the antenna hole
  24. I thought so too but we get crazy rain up in NY and I've washed the car multiple times and it's not leaking...that stain has been there for a few months and hasn't changed shape/size
  25. So a few years ago I got my rear windshield tinted. Now I recently (4 months ago) noticed that there is this sticky yellowish substance all along my headliner lining the rear window...anyone have any idea how to get it off without removing the headliner. I don't know what the material is but here is a picture:
