Show off your Detailing products Organization Setups!
BG SQ5 replied to LSX Maestro's question in General Detailing Discussion and Questions
Btw OP- there's a very long thread devoted just to showing off your Adam's collection. Of course many of the early pics are gone due to the Photobucket nonsense. -
Show off your Detailing products Organization Setups!
BG SQ5 replied to LSX Maestro's question in General Detailing Discussion and Questions
UGH- gross! C'mon on now. At least align all the sprayers the same on all the bottles...preferably with the trigger opposite the label so you can see what's what when they're hanging like that. I'd never let someone touch my car that has such poor attention to detail! J/k. Well, kind of...lol -
New to forum & in need of a swirl killer new or used
BG SQ5 replied to Twalsh1103's topic in New Member Check-In
Sounds like you're a week late. Could have scored one plus $100+ worth of product for $200. 3" backing plate on the HF is a decent idea. That's what I'm doing with my PC. -
I've been looking into this as well. I'm only trying to remove water spots on sunroofs though. I'm going to try a glass polish and MF pad on the SK.

For LPS, I know one time I didn't used anything after polishing and another time I think I detailed. Today I used IPA, and it worked just fine. I could definitely tell that the surface was squeaky clean. However, WW is a very interesting idea, and I'd like to hear more around that. I have read in the past that it's a pretty pure cleaner (as opposed to rinseless diluted 1:16). Regardless, I do intend to order some coating prep next time around. Thanks for the input guys! I'll be doing some sort of purposeful wipe down pre-LPS from now on for sure.

Hmmm...informative thread. I'm not so excited about the CB I got today now. Sounds like it's going in the trade box!

Is it okay to use detail spray prior to liquid paint sealant, or will it inhibit the LPS's ability to bond to the paint? I don't have any coating prep but could use 50% isopropyl if that's deemed best. There's just a tad of dust on the paint is all. It's stripped washed though.

Advantages of a quality Polisher
BG SQ5 replied to marauder's question in General Detailing Discussion and Questions
I think the biggest difference between the PC and SK is the throw. The PC is 8mm I believe. 15mm is A LOT more...like 87.5%. You're talking almost twice as efficient. -
Strip wash uses a different bottle?
BG SQ5 replied to BG SQ5's question in Washing, Drying, and Decontamination
So, is the whole HDPE bottle thing the same reason strip wash doesn't come in anything but 16 oz? -
So, I got my Black Friday order
BG SQ5 replied to quebert's topic in Product Polls, Feedback, and Company Input
I started my collection early this year with the 'new' sprayers, and my OCD went crazy when they when back to the 'old' ones this summer. Now I have so many old ones that I'm okay and can sleep again, lol. It only takes an decent order or two to cycle them out. FWIW- the 'new' ones felt better in my hand. However, they definitely dripped and about half of mine were mis-labeled (both sides showed the stream symbol). -
Strip wash uses a different bottle?
BG SQ5 replied to BG SQ5's question in Washing, Drying, and Decontamination
Wow- this thread got a lot of attention, haha. So there was a rhyme and reason to the bottle...which also helps support the idea that it brings more to the table than APC & CWS. PS- I plan just to remove the cap, pour percisely, and replace. Squeeze top is nice but not necessary for me. -
Strip wash uses a different bottle?
BG SQ5 posted a question in Washing, Drying, and Decontamination
Just curious here... Today I received my first bottle of strip wash, and it's in a slightly different bottle. It's squared-off at the top and seems to be made out of a different plastic. This is going to drive my OCD crazy when adding it to my collection! I imagine I'm not the only one, haha. I assume this is the standard strip wash bottle (although not pictured on the website)? Any rhyme or reason to it? -
The Value of Paint Gauges
BG SQ5 replied to shane@detailedreflections's question in General Detailing Discussion and Questions
Great info! I'm curious how well these work on edges and sharper corners, as I assume those are the thinnest spots on a car that has had any point correction. -
Work platforms on sale!

Sure beats the 4-5" ladder step I'm currently using! Never considered one of these before but am going to swing by HD to check them out. -
After working on a cheap, thin-padded rolling seat for a couple jobs in the spring, I dug my nice, thick padded Snap-on one out of storage for the summer. Padding is key if you're on it for hours. As much as I'd LOVE the bottle holders and trays on the Adams seat, it'll never work with my boney butt.

Behind-the-Scenes tour of Adam's via Obsessed Garage
BG SQ5 replied to tskanolan's topic in Company Info/Announcements
I caught this video on Matt's channel. Love seeing behind the scenes and Adam talk about the history. I don't get the hate on Matt. While he's not the most entertaining youtuber, he's as real as it comes and leads a very successful, passionate, and wholesome life. -

I can't seem to find any info around this anywhere Would be nice to know this as well since I'm ordering other MFs -
How about a Hex applicator kit?
BG SQ5 replied to jaybob's topic in Product Polls, Feedback, and Company Input
This would be perfect! -
My inquiry was around exactly that- detailing other people's cars. I'm just concerned the protection isn't going to be enough for a car that only gets protected twice/year. As a result, I think the paint sealant will remain my go to for other people's DDs.
-
Good feedback! I wonder how long the 'protection' is good for and if maintaining with H2O G&G after the fact would help stretch it out at all. I'm trying to discern if there's any benefit over using one of the previous polishes followed by a sealant or buttery for a go-to, bang-for-the-buck process. Ie. polishing and protecting a random person's DD

If it's not a matte shampoo, I'd guess a vinyl wrap shampoo.

Winter Protection on Daily Driver
BG SQ5 replied to moons21's question in Exterior Protection & Enhancement
I just recently put paint sealant down (plus Americana and brilliant glaze on top) and plan to maintain with H2O G&G every 1-2 months until spring when I strip it down again. -
Other uses for detail spray
BG SQ5 replied to camp316's question in General Detailing Discussion and Questions
I can't get enough of the regular DS. I'm wondering if I'll end up going back to order a gallon of the pumpkin once my 16 oz comes. There's no way I can use up 2 gallons of DS on just the cars I detail though. Love the idea of using it around the house! -
I LOVE my new ultra plush drying towel, especially combined with detail spray for a drying aid! I'm looking to purchase a red mitt soon. The wool mitts are okay if the car is just dusty, but I don't like them for any kind of dirt.
